end of vintage star wars???

I wouldn't be so sure, I only collect vintage as these toys were from my childhood. The modern stuff has no appeal to me.

The next generation might like collecting "their generation" of toys and think the vintage 70-80's stuff is shite?!?

Anything iconic from the original trilogy should still be pretty collectable to anyone interested in SW. Many of the 90s collectors have sold up to focus on vintage, and that was before Disney have done anything.

A 1930s Mickey Mouse is always going to beat a modern one ;)

With Disneys plan to release Eposiode 7-9 followed another film everything year after that. That will bring in the Disney era of collectors. I am sure thats these new fans will be intrigued by how it all startd and look towards the OT (Much the same as I did) And then they will collect all era of SW stuff from 1978 to 2015 and beyond.. (Like I do) :D :D

Great topic chris,
I personally think with the planned 7, 8 & 9 films and with disney making them that the interest will defo continue with vintage. I would like to think that our collections wouldn't decrease in value either.
My oldest son who is 5 told me the other day that he us going to start collecting clone wars stuff and I can continue to collect older stuff (his words). He looks at my locked vintage cabinet daily and every now and then when the wife and other kids are not around he gets in amongst the itens. He always laughs at snaggletooths name.
Great pictures spoons

All that will be left after humans have died a death will be ants and thousands of vinyl caped Jawas :D

It's not just SW fans collecting this though - there will always be vintage toy collectors and toy museums. Collection of these toys are spread across a broad spectrum, which is a bonus for selling (but also a pain for collecting as the extremely valuable ones arent just snapped up by SW collectors - but by toy collectors (that know what they're doing) in general).

Just my 2p.

I will do my best to pass the baton onto my son when he's older (he's only 20mths old at the moment).

I've already started him off with a handful of beaters to play with and seems to like C-3PO cause he's nice and shiny :)

Similar to GI Joe from the 60's/70's vs. the smaller line from the 80's................I am sure collectors of the Joe line from the 80's have nothing to do with the older larger line.

Well childhood collections is still showing up so I don't think we will see that day come and there will always be a collector who will stop collecting and sell his collection.

Vintage Star Wars will always be around, even when we are all long gone. A lot will be in private collections, some very rare stuff in Toy Museums etc. Value I have no idea although I can't see it decreasing much and the uber rare stuff will only appreciate in value.

Star Wars is a massive name that will be around for generations
