End of 2021collecting review and goals for 2022

This is maybe a little early but I was doing a review of my collecting year and remembered this thread that we have every year.
Here was my 2021 list:

To complete my 12/20 back run - Still 4 short
A Tri Logo Leia Hoth. - Yes
Biker Scout Pistol - Yes and sold it within 6 months, the wanting one was more compelling that owning one!
ESB Removerable Limbs C3PO - Yes

So all in all a good year, plus picked up a few more that were not on that list.
2022 wants are:

Leia Bespin and Poncho Tri Logo
Luke Jedi Tri Logo
Han Bespin Tri Logo
Luke Jedi on a Palitoy card
Han 12/20 back Kenner
DSC 12/20 back Palitoy.

All easy to find especially in the near mint condition I'm looking for!

The Vader reseal is my priority in order to complete my Palitoy first 20 run.

So I actually said I would scrap my plans to complete my loose run and concentrate on a new focus on Squid Head....but for some reason i lost interest with this and eventually went back to hunting to complete my loose run, which due to a limited budget i haven't really been able to tick of any of my 2021 goals.

I ended up just going though and upgrading a bunch of figures and also found a few variations along the way, which I enjoyed hunting at a relatively low cost. I've also started a collection of 'Beyond the toys' stuff, comic book adverts etc. oh including a random Chewbacca Wilton Candle I am really enjoying researching this stuff and trying to track it down.

So what's for 2022, well i'm planning on selling off some of my duplicate figures & ships possibly at Echo Base Live if i can find someone I can share a stall with.
With the proceeds I intend to really try to push next year to get me closer to my goal.

So my goals for 2021 were:
Which I failed on all of them

1) Lando Calrissian (General Pilot)
2) Luke Skywalker Poncho
3) R2D2 with Pop Up Light sabre
4) Luke Farm boy (upgrade required)
5) R2-D2 solid dome (upgrade required)

9) x2 Black Endor Blasters

Being realistic most of the stuff on my list is way out of my budget, but with the funds i get from downsizing i'm going set a a more modest goal for 2022.

My 2022 goals:

1) R2D2 with Pop Up Lightsabre
2) Luke Farm boy (upgrade required)
3) R2-D2 solid dome (upgrade required)

I would also like to add to my 'Beyond the toys' stuff what ever looks cool on this haven't really got a want list as yet.

Hi all,

Only really made the decision to start collecting in the latter part of this year after looking out my loose vintage collection from the parents loft.
Seeing them again, actually realising what I had & regaining that appreciation for them has given me the bug to build on it.

Really, my 2021 goal/aim after looking out the figures was to at least start collecting cardbacks. This was to allow me to display the loose figure with a cardback, with the goal to have them all in GW acrylic cases. I've managed to pick up 8 so far, all in good display condition so happy days & the journey begins.

For 2022, keeping it quite general as I have so much I want to achieve;

1. Cardbacks for current loose figures
2. Missing weapons for current loose figures
3. Loose Stormtrooper – no idea why I don't have one!
4. Loose Nien Numb
5. Loose Squid Head
6. Loose Rancor Keeper
7. Loose Admiral Ackbar
8. Loose Lumat

4-8 to complete my loose ROTJ figures

1. 1 MOC – I want to add at least 1 MOC to my collection. Doesn't matter who it is, what cardback it is, unpunched etc. Just want to have 1.

Problems will be funding it. I'm sure you'll all agree & vouch that this is a long process/journey & I'm literally at the start.
Justification for funding it aswell, when trying to tell the wife that I'm wanting to spend 3 figure sums on 40 year old toys or cardboard

Glad I found this forum to give me that bug & plenty of helpful insight/knowledge.
More glad I found it before cashing in on these when I had an offer from a toy trader that I now think/know was low balling me.
They are all worth a lot more than just a cash figure to me now!

My 2020 goals were:
1- a trilogo RL Threepio (rolled over from previous years) - nailed this
2- add a few more loose and MOC - I actually moved on most of my stuff and dived into other lines/collections

For 2021 I'm going to mostly be focused on other stuff I think, starting with some more Play Asterix items. Star Wars might see an addition or two, although I've not really got a plan.

I'm giving up at this, my Asterix plan lasted a few weeks (days maybe) and I saw something else shiny. It's fair to say I focussed on very little.

Next year I plan to enjoy whatever takes my fancy. I'll buy some tat, sell some tat and hopefully have a bit of fun.

Only got back into collecting properly again this year after a 10 year break. Managed the full 96 run so it'll be variants

I didn't do this last year but planned to put a loose run of 12 inch together and add to my boxed die cast run. I haven't done bad, just missing Han and IG88 and a few accessories and added six boxed ships.

This year the main aim is to
1. finish the loose 12 inch run
2. add more to the boxed diecast - 8 to go but will take more than a year
3. Find a die cast Meccano TIE fighter cardback if not a MOC
4. Complete my boxed Hoth run of micro collection
5. Find a reasonably priced Hoth Rescue set

Couple of those are near impossible but no point setting too easy of a challenge

My 2021 goals were as follows -

1. Agree with Lom, let's all get vaccinated so that we can meet in person again at Farthest From, Echo Live and other great events. Yes in part - had a great day at Echo Live but unfortunately didn't make it to FF due to illness.
2. At least one significant U.K. store display. Yes - SW Admiral activity books display and Panini Jedi stickers counter display box.
3. The elusive Helix 10 fibre tip pens set. No - still looking.
4. The pieces I need to finish my Frankel & Roth bags, Palitoy diecast, and/or HCF runs. Yes in part - got a good resealed diecast X-wing to finish that run, added a green backpack and the rare silver R2 pencil case to my Frankel & Roth run, and other than a couple of pencils I've now got the full HCF production run.
5. An original trilogy prop or cast & crew item. Yes - got the additional pieces to display a full ESB Norway crew outfit, and an uncut sheet of Revenge Yoda stickers,

I've had a good collecting year, picked up some varied and interesting pieces, visited one of the Andor filming locations in Dorset, and loved being part of The Vintage Rebellion team, learning a lot along the way. Some of my collecting highlights this year -

Goals for 2022 - not dissimilar to last years really.

1. Getting to more events and being an active part of this wonderful community we have.
2. A vintage British store display piece.
3. A vintage cast & crew item.
4. A vintage British cinema item.
5. The Helix 10 fibre tip pens set.
6. Finish my Frankel & Roth, Letraset transfers and Acamas masks / costume runs.

My 2021 goals were to complete my moc run of all figures carded, I didn't post on here last year but I've only got one left.
So my 2022 goals
1. Han Carbonite moc
2. Upgrade r2 pop up figure
3. As soon as that is done take a break from Star Wars collecting for a year and see what it's like when I return, no facebook groups, no buying, I'll have a full loose and carded collection and it's time to enjoy them and give my bank balance a rest!

I have not bought that much star wars in 2021. But I found a few danish childhood lots and got a few moc from other collectors.

My goals for 2021 was

1. A few more moc.
2. Vinyl Cape Jawa.
3. Kenner Death Star playset with box.
4. Sonic Controlled Landspeeder with box.
5. More moc, cardbacks and boxes with danish price stickers on them for my danish focus.
6. A POCH cardback.
7. A Toltoys cardback.
8. Barada with no coo 1984.
9. Backdrop for the Hero Set.
10. Radio Controlled R2D2 with box.

My goals for 2022 is

1. A few more moc since I still need 40 before I have a full run
2. Vinyl Cape Jawa.

7) And any more Palitoy/trilogo bubble MOCs I can find. A Rebel Commander or Ben Kenobi would be nice, I know they both exist

Despite being a pretty quiet year, I did manage to get four of these: An unused Snowspeeder, a used Palitoy Hoth AT-ST, French ESB for the Game Boy, and a Palitoy Gamorrean Guard MOC. The first two are compromises, but they were cheap enough for me to be happy with them so for 2022:

1) Nikto 70C Trilogo
2) Boba Fett baggie
3) Unused contents AT-ST to put in the box I picked up this year
4) 12 Back Luke (getting less and less likely due to prices)
5) A Palitoy ROTJ Rebel Commander, Rebel Soldier or Ben Kenobi

Any of those would make me very happy

I completely forgot to do one of these for last year. 2021 was a relatively quiet year for myself. I didn't post much on the forum due to personal issues regarding my work, which unfortunately are still ongoing.

Anyway enough of that; my goals for 2022

1. A MIB/ MISB AT-AT - Kenner or Palitoy. Well, we can dream.
2. An Emporer mail away flyer.
3. A few MOCS - Luke ( Hoth), Jawa, Tusken Raider and Imperial Stormtrooper on offer-less Jedi cards.
4. The Force Lightsaber - any colour.
5. A few more for my last 17 loose run - hopefully without having to sell a body part for them.

Not much to ask for eh?

Not sure I did this last year, but my goal was to get any Kenner debut MOC I could or as close to debut as I could. Ended up with 65 a Luke Jedi, 45 back CCP and a 41 b Dengar.
Also got all but 2 of my play sets and Vehicles in GW cases and out on display. Added more Rebel Soldiers to the army as well.

As for this year although I'm still looking for the Kenner debut MOC run I've decided to just get the remaining figures I need on any card I can, it's just to expensive at the moment, so hopefully will add some more soon, think I need 23???

Noticed there is still value in the boxed items so will be looking to add some of them. My 2022 list is,

Any figure I don't have MOC.
Darth Vaders Tie-Fighter boxed & complete.
Star Wars Tie-Fighter boxed and complete.
Mini Rigs, MIB Cap-2 and ISP-6.
Jabba The Hutt, MIB. This one is already done but still waiting for it to arrive. May have been back door'ed???

My 2022 Star Wars goal is to get Nein Numb MOC (Who somehow I have lost or missed!) and move on my 17 "spare" MOCs. Hopefully as a job lot.

My 2022 collecting goal is still Action Force/Gi Joe with a big dash of Battle Beasts and a light foray into everything I can remember from my childhood.

I've just started a bit of a madballs MOC collection, for instance!
