End of 2019 Collecting Review and 2020 goals

2020 :!: S**t we're old :lol:

So how did everyone do with last years collecting goals and what have you got planned for next year?

Last year I planned to maintain a small display, buy a Graflex and maybe get a Trilogo Threepio.
I got the Graflex ( and sold it again :lol: )
I actually doubled my display case size AND maintained a semi respectable display

No Trilogo Threepio though so that rolls onto 2020.
I'd like to add a few more loose figures and maybe a couple of MOCs or boxed items. Possibly a nice loose X Wing again.

New job, daughter moved out, just to friggin busy !!

Maybe 2020 will see me get 2 and 3 crossed off. Will also keep collecting and expanding my loose collection. I did manage to acquire a good few items this year, now it's time to sort displaying them before my Grandson arrives in February :wink:

Only thing on the list purchased was Warok, thank you Monkidoodle.

Decided in 2020 I am going to raise some much needed funds to afford the last few figures/accessories by selling off my duplicates and some of my variations, not ideal but prices seem to be getting more an d more out of reach for a limited budget.

1. A few more moc.
2. Vinyl Cape Jawa.
3. Kenner Death Star playset with box.
4. Sonic Controlled Landspeeder with box.
5. More moc, cardbacks and boxes with danish price stickers on them for my danish focus.
6. A POCH cardback.
7. A Toltoys cardback.
8. Barada with no coo 1984.
9. Backdrop for the Hero Set.
10. Radio Controlled R2D2 with box.

Mine from last year:

1) MISB Snowspeeder! Somebody help me :lol:
2) More Palitoy Jedi w/ trilogo bubble MOCs - would really love to find Luke X-Wing, Han Bespin, and R5-D4 next year
3) Luke 12 back (got him on every other card now so would like to complete the run)
4) MISB Palitoy AT-ST (Hoth scene)
5) IG-88 baggie to complete my ESB set

I did pick up a Han Bespin Palitoy MOC, and the IG-88 baggie, so a couple chalked off. Still no Snowspeeder though. A few 12 back Luke's came up for sale that I passed on, hoping prices on those continue to fall as they have been. So for 2020 I would like to find:

1) Trilogo 70C Nikto, to upgrade my cardback
2) MISB Snowspeeder
3) MISB Palitoy AT-ST (Hoth scene)
4) French ESB for Nintendo Game Boy (L'Empire Contre-Attaque!)
5) Boba Fett baggie
6) 12 Back Luke
7) And any more Palitoy/trilogo bubble MOCs I can find. A Rebel Commander or Ben Kenobi would be nice, I know they both exist

2020 goals are:
1. Complete the 12/20 back MOC run - 6 left, all the expensive ones! :roll:
2. Leia Hoth on a Tri Logo with as mint a card and bubble as possible. - been looking for ages for a mint one.
3. ROTJ Biker Scout blaster MIB.
4. ESB Han Solo MOC
5. ESB C3PO Removerable Limbs MOC
6. ESB R2D2 Solid Dome MOC

Didnt so this last year but very happy with what I did get.

My aims for next year are :

Finish my loose complete.No Last 17 in this.Need about 5

Die Cast MOC Tie fighter and Darths Tie

And would love to get Greedo , Snaggletooth and Hammerhead mocs on any card.

That should be more than enough funds allowing.

I did quite well. I got a threepio and Chewie 20 back, as well as Death Squad Commander 12 back at the start of the year. I didn't add much to the Spanish line but I did get a POCH and Lili Ledy Yoda. I managed to pick up a MIB Creature Cantina Action Playset that I'm very happy with but isn't yet on display.

In 2020 I'm hoping to add:
1. More 20/21 backs
2. Molded Legs Han Hoth, Painted Torso Leia Boushh
3. Zuckuss Made in China Baggie and Lili Ledy Zuckuss
4. 4 line coo Dengar
5. MIB Imperial Troop Transporter
6. Dagobah Playset
7. Early Bird Certificate Package

In addition I really must get my loose figure display cabinet built. I say it every year I know :lol:

2. The elusive Helix 10 fibre tip pens set;
3. The pieces I need to finish my Westbrook birthday cards, Frankel & Roth bags, and/or Deeko party ware runs;
4. An original trilogy prop or cast & crew item;
5. Some great memories from a trip to Finse for Visit Hoth; and
6. Some more great friendships within the hobby to add to those I'm lucky to have already.

1. Yes - Sphere, Super 8 and Vymura posters, Letraset envelopes, Topps boxes, and carded key chains.
2. No - still looking.
3. Finished my Westbrook and Deeko runs and I now have only 3 Frankel & Roth bags to go.
4. Yes - Jedi cast & crew T-shirt "I hold up under pressure"
5. No - but I will be going next year.
6. Yes - Definitely!

An added bonus was to be asked to be a guest host on The Vintage Rebellion podcast, something I never expected and I am very appreciative of the opportunity, I'm really enjoying it.

Here's my collecting best of 2019:

List for 2020 is much the same as for 2019:

Here was my goals:

To complete:

12" collection by getting that smegging saber from smeggity smeg face - Stu didn't come good (again) but I did get this from @palifan so ticked off
Dixie Cups - got all of these I think. Got all the SW boxes too
Sigma mugs (5 to go) - nope not a single one
Two R5 cards - way more than that so ticked
Orange and Green Topps trading cards - got both of them. Still need boner card
That stupid little piece from the Jabba Dungeon - still need it
Cloud City Playset - got it

Wow, even though I forgot about this list I did pretty well to complete as many things as I did.

So 2020:

An ESB Boba Fett card
As this is coming much harder just one R5-D4 card I don't have
Sigma mugs x 5 can stay on the list
That stupid little piece from the Jabba Dungeon can stay
A trilogo Luke Stormtrooper

My 2019 aims were...

I want to add more Palitoys to my Run - I have 2 or 3 genuinely rare cards to find, plus 5 or 6 which should come up with a bit of patience- so it would be nice to a few more ticked off.

Added a few more... I'm down to 5 for the run of SW and ESB mocs now (plus some upgrades).

I'd like to complete my study, which will have my collection in. I havent settled on the design yet, but it will be fairly minimal with MOCs on 1 wall, and a large glass display case. Got to get this done and the collection on display.

Done... builders were in during the spring and summer and I have a new display room/office, but I do need to find a nice glass case still for the odd and ends.

Finally, I'd like to move away from just collecting Palitoys and look at some other lines as well as non-toy items

Failed here... I did buy some palitoy MIB vehicles and moc diecasts, as well as added hugely to my mailer run - all palitoys though. I did pick up an Earlybird Certificate from Farthest From, so maybe not a total failure.



2020 goals...

1. Get the palitoy run knocked on the head - or just so I'm looking for C3PO on a 45a for ever more.
2. Find a palitoy mailer 4-Lom and Rancor Keeper
3. Find a Palitoy ESB store display hanger
4. Nice boxed Earlybird Kit
5. Add some proof cards (if the market returns nearer to sensible levels)
6. Add some Non-toy items (got a long list I'd like but will have to see what comes up).
7. Get my loose run on display and a display case for everything else

I've had another great year in terms of added to my collection but it has slowed down signficantly owing to the fact it's getting harder and harder to find items on my want list but I have finally landed the following:

I didn't fill this in last year but I had decided to try and put a run of 90's rareties together. After looking around I decided I wouldn't go for the sonic landspeeder, sandcrawler or skiff. So that left 4:

1. 12 inch IG88 - picked this one up at FF Easter
2. Luke Skywalker Radio Headset - picked this one up on EBay the same day as FF Easter
3. Tie bomber - still looking
4. A Wing - came close but was just outbid

As a bonus I finished the Oral-B toothbrush run at Christmas FF.

Goals next year:

1. Tie bomber
2. A Wing
3. Another 1 or 2 Popy's
4. Seriously downsizing as my collecting room is full and at least 60% of my stuff is in storage

I only bought one piece of vintage in 2019 and that was a thank you gift for someone else.
Reading through everyone's collecting goals for 2020 and to be honest I'm thinking about boxing everything up and putting it up in the loft.

I think the fire has gone out for me, not a fan of people who announce their departure from a group (if it's not for you just leave) but I really have enjoyed sharing my love for Star Wars with you guys and made some great friends over the years so wanted to say thanks.

Reading through everyone's collecting goals for 2020 and to be honest I'm thinking about boxing everything up and putting it up in the loft.

I think the fire has gone out for me, not a fan of people who announce their departure from a group (if it's not for you just leave) but I really have enjoyed sharing my love for Star Wars with you guys and made some great friends over the years so wanted to say thanks.

I'm sorry to hear that Colin, I have always enjoyed reading your posts. If the fire has gone out, having a break is the sensible thing to do and I'm glad to hear you're going to park your collection rather than sell up.

I've got a feeling the market will loosen up a little now the new trilogy is over and hopefully that might tempt you back if things become more affordable and available.

Compete the ROTJ issue figures with Anakin Offer sticker on - Still need Nikto, Weequay and Bib, but started on and added lots of non ROTJ characters!
Complete my Diecast loose set (need Slave one and some upgrades!) - Might have sorted this!
The dream find would be an Anakin Offer Shelf Talker! - Never gonna happen :lol:
Buy lots of other random Star Wars **** I don't need! - Oh yes! Bloody loads!
And of course meet up and drink beer with many of you! - Very much done a couple of times!

I didn't think I'd buy much this year due to a major personal upheaval but I added a few offerless Jedi MOCS and mini rigs to the collection.
This coming year I'm hoping to pick up some more Jedi MOCS and sealed mini rigs. On the boxed vehicle front I'm still on the lookout for an AT-ST and a Tie-Interceptor preferably sealed.
I'm still umming and ahhing over wether to get the Kelkerman book so will keep an eye out if it's at a decent price.
Like Roundster, I'm looking forward to more Sou'Wester meet ups....

2019 was my first proper year back collecting SW. I've gone from just 2 loose complete figures to 38 now, in a caninet, plus a few ships, minirigs and assorted vintage stuff incluidng some SW weekly comics. Got the kids into SW too, been to my first Echo Live and FF and enjoyed seeing the old and new movies again.

So 2020, plenty to work on, but targetting:

1. Progress the loose run, maybe up to 60 figures
2. Complete the ROTJ figure run
3. Buy some more star wars weekly comics and my first vintage Topps cards
4. Enter the strange world of cardbacks
5. Attend some more live events and meet some more folk face to face.

It's been great to enetr such a strong community here and on the FB groups. Thanks everyone and happy 2020.

Cheers - I'd not seen that but I'll pass. Seems quite reasonable although it is missing the front but I'm after just the wings as I have a complete one and a spare body I'm trying to finish off.
