Hi guys,

First time it's happened to me but...

Bought a vintage Droids A-Wing from a US seller/shop (they will remain anonymous until I hear their response - described as "factory sealed, never opened". Sent it off to be graded & UKG have come back to say the tape was carefully sliced open & then replaced using a different tape which someone had tried to "age" with sand or the like.

The problem I have is the sellers policy is "returns within 7 days." I don't feel that is fair given the reason i get my Star wars stuff graded is for THIS very reason! But I know how eBay can be with regards to not caring too much for buyers. However, this item is not sold as described & at near £300 purchase price is now useless & valueless to me & my collection.

I think the seller really should have picked this up, i'm no expert hence sending for grading & thier advert was definately misleading as it turned out, I would have thought they should have spotted this if they've been in the game for a while.

However, in the lap of the gods now as raised a dispute, but if any of you have similar experiences & can tell me what chance I've got of getting my money back...or not, thoughts appreciated.

I'd see what the seller says, it's perfectly possible they didn't realise. Their 7 day return policy probably just applies to things that people decide they don't want, as obviously if something is not as described it may take longer to realise that.

Yeah, the 7 days return policy is fairly meaningless. It is not actually up to them whether they refund you or not. Message the seller asking for a refund or partial refund and then, if they don't comply immediately (which they won't) open an ebay case and ebay/paypal will refund you.

Cheers guys.

Yeah,as you say it's reasonable to assume the seller may not have realised so I will give them a chance to resolve. Steve at UKG has said he will issue a refusal of grading letter & is of the same opinion as you guys that the 7 day policy is meaningless & I should get my money back.

Gutted as needed this to complete collection but this is how it sometimes goes I guess.

Man, that's terrible news. At least you know and can do something about it hopefully.

Getting an item that isn't what you thought it was is very disappointing obviously but it's made worse for me because I anticipate receiving the item and opening it and getting that "there's my baby" feeling!

Completely agree with Andy. Whenever you recieve an item which is not what you are expected is very annoying and a really pain t get your money back! Sorry mate! :(
