eBay ****ing around again

Just bought something on eBay, and they've changed the checkout page. It appears you can no longer pay via credit or debit card with Paypal? The only options it gave were pay after delivery, paypal balance, or echeque. But they have added a new debit/credit card non-paypal payment option.

So how does this work now? If you want to buy something with a credit card, do you no longer get paypal protection?

You should be able to choose paypal and when you sign in then change the payment method to whichever registered card you like? It was still like this a week ago and then there was also the option to use credit or debit through Ebay direct as well.

Just used it now and it was very much as normal, didn't even bring up the credit/debit option. They must be trialling something with a certain % of transactions.

I had this option on ebay to pay via debit/credit card without paypal last Sunday. Wanting to pay via paypal linked with my bank sort code etc as normal, all i got were these stupid error massages. Gave up the shambles in the end. Tried again Monday morning and lo and behold i got the normal ebay/paypal check out page and paid as normal.
