Ebay - Here we go!..

Bought a Roland TD9 drum kit today. It's one of those sales where the seller has listed it with 'NO RESERVE', obviously expecting more than the start price. Unfortunately (for him) i've won it for his listed price, which in fairness is about the going rate. And now he's not replied to my message asking about collection and payment. This is all after relatively swift to and fro communication.

The guy could be out or something, but it still makes me nervous. Come tomorrow everything may be ok. But can sellers just refuse to sell an item once the auction is over? Never had experience of this. Could just be poor comms. Time will tell :roll:

legal obligation. anything put on for auction has to be sold at the final bid price.

For all intents and purposes, yes, the seller can refuse to sell you the item you won. Unfortunately all you could do then is neg him (you're obliged to if he doesn't go through with his sale!).
It is, of course, against the rules of ebay to not follow through with deals. They are technically legally binding but the truth of the matter is, as so many unscrupulous and dishonest sellers know, no one can actually make you send an item someone won as long as you don't take/keep their money. If someone kept doing it ebay might eventually ban them but as we all know from past experience of scammers and scumbags in our own field, this would take the most unprecedented run of scamming, cheating and deal reneging as ebay really don't tend to give much of a toss about these kind of things.

My advice; if he doesn't follow through with the deal - which will happen one of 2 ways, he'll either ignore you, or he'll send you a message with lots of lies in it (as tends to be the tradition with these kind of people) - leave him a carefully worded neg (factual and no abusive or liable comments) and report him to ebay. And avoid too much back and forth with him. Very rarely are more than 2 messages needed in these situations. Any more only serves to weaken your position imo.

That's all you can do.

It's going pretty much as i thought it would. This morning there is no word from him at all. The first post sale message I sent him was asking about collection and payment etc. I sent him one this morning just saying 'please can you respond to my questions about the sale'.

If it gets into tomorrow i'll know he's pissing me about and i'll open a complaint.

I shall refrain from calling him a ****ing **** and keep it civil :x

...it's all sorted. Apparently he was pissing about looking at the rules on cash payments. Obviously wary as I offered cash instead of Paypal.

So looks like I will be going on a long journey to Leeds tomorrow. Anyone need owt from Leeds? :wink:

Picked up the kit today and it's bloody lovely

Had a worrying moment when I turned up and no-one answered the door :roll: Waited round for 5 minutes. Knocked again and the guy was in :?

Anyway, it's all sorted now
