eBay Buyers Postage Expectations

Not sure if other eBay sellers are finding this but expectations are just getting silly now. I have just had a message from a buyer who bought something on Wednesday (15th) afternoon - he has just messaged me asking if they have been posted (I have marked that they have) as they have not arrived with him today (17th). Neil does an amazing job for me and normally posts all eBay items out the next day - I do the same over here. Yet recently I have had numerous requests, both sides of the pond asking where something is 2-3 days after payment - eBay doesn't help with their 'expected delivery date'

I know it is the world in which we live these days (I used to work for a next day catering company and dealt with a number of muppets that would leave things to the last minute and then get annoyed if it didn't show)

Anyways, just need to vent

Ebay really is full of idots and scammers.
It should be a license for them to print money but all they seem interested in doing is making it as hard as possible for honest buyers and in particular sellers.

Don't worry about it Iain, sounds like they need to take a chill pill. As you say everyone expects everything instantly these days. I blame the retail industry with all their next day delivery bollocks. People expect the same with ebay and private sales etc. It's not realistic and in all honestly if someone can't wait a few more days for something they need to get a life! :|

Iain, I have sympathies with the "instant delivery" epxectations. I've been trading properly on ebay for 4 years and the expectations of some fools is incredible. I had a french bloke who wanted to know why his item hadn't arrived 2 days after he paid. I could go on a mini-rant about the best and worst countries to deal with, in terms of patience, are, but I won't.... All I will say is they're both on your side of the pond, now :D

Some people are too impatient and 2 days is just silly.

I got a message today from ebay saying my items have now been put on click and collect as i use free postage even though i use my own money and if i want to opt out of it i have to change settings, it should be the other way round if i wanted to opt in.

I can't believe it hasn't arrived yet, WTF are you two playing at?
FFS, you're just taking the p##s.
Put your stuff up for sale, take the money and then have the cheek to ask for more than 10 minutes to post it?
What on Alderaan is the world coming to.
Iain pull your bloody socks up.

Got another one in today - item purchased and paid on the 19th and a case opened today - 4 days after purchase because eBay said it would be with him next day so it now must be lost in the post - God help these fools

Yeah I think it's eBay's estimated delivery date that's to blame. I had a guy who bought a laptop from me, paid three days later, then asked me where it was the next day (I even posted it the evening he paid, but that was too late for next day delivery.) The eBay date is assuming they pay straight away!

Iain, Thursday must be idiot day on eBay. I had some guy in Qatar by a keychain off me yesterday afternoon. I wake up this AM to a message "I have not had notification that you have sent my item?" Was pointed out his expectations were, perhaps, ridiculous and that perhaps he'd like to source it locally as it wasn't going to be with him anytime soon.

He then apologised profusely and asked for my phone number so he could apologise in person. Now I'm just weirded out.

My guess is that if you change your handling time to 5 or 10 days that the ship date will be changed accordingly. Handy to do it in bulk like this and catch all listings at once, especially for going on holiday and still wanting the auctions to run.

I sold a item Friday night and got a message while watching the F1 buyer wondering were his item was ! As the item was a overnight special Royal Mail ,I pointed out that Royal Mail don't post on a Sunday so he asked if it could be sent by courier right now ! the clowns are out there
