Dreams do come true...

Great find but are we ever going to hear the story behind them? We'd all love to know :D

Oh wow Lee, that's a great buy! Even if it wasn't sealed it'd be worth that, I remember someone trying to sell just the bag for hundreds on RS once!!

Hi chaps,

Right, heres what happened.

I got a call from a friend that a guy had phoned him. This guy owns a house clearance shop and he asked my friend if he wanted to come take a peek at some items he had found in a loft. My mate goes in there and sees a boxed ewok village amongst other bits and pieces. He asked the guy how much and the guy asked for only £20 saying the box was a bit worn and he wasnt sure if it was it had all its bits. My mate was in a bit of a rush, and knew he could recoup more than the £20 for the box and village alone. He goes home and leaves the village in his car. Later he opens the box and empties the contents, and he finds THREE special buy bags containing the figures. He offered me one for only £15 as he didnt want to go full value as the tape might have been broken and he is a good friend. The figures are mint, although i am only looking in the bag and i didnt want to open it fully. I have a feeling the bag was opened at some point or that it has lifted from age.

Anyways, i am over the moon with this-sealed or not. It isnt leaving my collection as i focus on these stickers.

:)

3 multi packs in a ewok village box  ! What a score for £20 for your pal. Amazing story thanks for sharing buddy. Good purchase 8)

That's a great story and thanks for sharing. Just shows that bargains are still out there! :D

I gather this is a great find mate, so congrats! Now could someone please enlighten an ignoramus such as myself as to why this bag'o'figures is such a treasure? No offense meant; please go easy on a mainstream, garden variety collector ;)

dartin, woolworth bags 99p info :D from an old thread for your viewing

When the SW fad was coming to an end woolworths sold pre packed sets of 8 figures for 99p.
Some of these bags contained loose figures, some contained a mixture of loose and bagged and some contained just baggies. Loose figures were more common.

Now a small amount of these packs contained poft figures, but they are extremely rare.
Figures were shipped to palitoy in individual baggies, these baggies would be opened and the figures put on card.

Now as you could imagine when the star wars craze died down palitoy were left with lots of figures to shift.
Some were loose (already removed from their baggies awaiting to be carded) and some would of been still in baggies.
Woolworths back then were a major outlet for SW, so they ran the 8 figures for 99p promotion.

The 8 figures were packed by palitoy in a larger bag,and had a cardboard sleeve. They were shipped to woolies in a larger box and then woolworths added the price sticker in store.
Every bag was completely random, but the majority contained rotj figures. sold circa 1985-87

regards
