Just wanted a bit info on how business self employed is going, ive been doing some IT consultancy for smaller companies and its worked out well. Ive saved them a ton of money.

A friend suggested going self employed but i feel its too risky in this climate, just wanted to know what its like out there?

I am self employed, at least you know where you are and can see whats happening with your business rather than turning up one day and finding out you're unemployed....

Get a good accountant

I've been self employed for several years now, my advice is if you haven't got kids and you don't mind living off pasta for a while, go for it!
If you do have kids, save up a couple of years worth of cash before you quit - it might be a few years before you turn a profit.
Worst comes to the worst you can always get another job though.

Han Solo was self employed and he did alright. :)

i,m self employed hate the fact that i,m either stressed cause theres no work or stressed cause theres not enough days in week to fit all work in
love the fact i can get wasted and just go in late and go home when i want .
i got mates in factories and they think i,m loaded when they see some of jobs i get in but i tell em i would take there job ,clock in, head down, **** of home ,wage at end of week holiday pay.they dont see me having to go price jobs up ,go pick materials up while there sat at home care free .

though i dont think i could work for some one now.a cou[ple of years back at christmas i went to a agency cause i had no work on .i ended up in a tea bag factory ,it was ****ing soul destroying .there were people there smiling putting tea bags in a box and they had been there 18 years .one day forman couldnt find anything for me to do so i said i,ll go home .he looked shocked i wanted to leave .never went back
