doctor who special

I did, too- a worthy episode for the 50th anniversary. Great to hear the voice of Tom Baker... then to see the man himself as The Curator... super stuff :D

Cheesy and naff. But I freakin' loved it!! Was awesome seeing it in 3d, I went to the cinema to see it. Place was packed with people wearing fez's and 4th doctor scarfs. I really want the latter! Its the only film I've ever seen where people have cheered at the start and clapped at the end.

It was good fun and really interesting to see how the story developed. Was great to see all the Dr's in one episode :) even Capaldi made an appearance. My son was happy so that's good enough for me.

I did chuckle when they slipped in a grunge reference when describing how the Tardis looks 8)

I imagine the experience was similar to when they showed ROTJ at the cinema recently, it really adds to the occasion :)

Loved it.
I have been on a Dr Who 'bender' this month. As of the 1st Nov I had never seen an episode so grabbed the box set and got through all seven seasons and specials in time to watch the 50th anniversary this weekend (I will also be posting a photo of my Lego incarnation of 15 of the main characters later in the week).

Totally in love with the show, I thought the special was very in keeping with Moffat's writing style and focus on sentiment and character over big event driven plot, which Davies favoured. Absolutely loved the way they wrote the 10th Doctor back in and played with the Elizabethan theme that popped up throughout Tenant's run. John Hurt was, well... John Hurt, absolutely spot on.

My only criticism would be that the overall sense of peril or universal doom was lacking, somehow you always knew how it was going to end, but that is a very minor point compared to what you get.

The biggest positive is that now for the first time since the re-boot the Dr has a mission and that means the 12th Dr has new forward looking focus rather that the more introspective incarnations of the last three (or is it four now :) ) doctors.

Can't wait to see how they play out the regeneration to Peter Capaldi and where they go next year.

Possible spoilers..maybe...

According to the Mirror, Moffet has said that Matt Smith is the 13th regeneration, what with John Hurt being shoe horned in and Tennant taking 2 regenerations..so when he dies at xMas, the **** is going down :)

Yeah, there has been some talk about that as older episodes stated he could only regenerate 12 times, not sure how they are going to get around it but it will be fun to watch, can't wait.

It's sci-fi, they can get round it in any way they choose. The most obvious solution would be he gets another 12 from the Timelords (who are all safe in the painting) like the Master was offered in previous cannon.

:)

I hope they are a lot smarter than that. Maybe something linked with the doctors grave? Like you say they have options but Moffat has said it will blow people's minds....
