Hi. After an initial buzz over my first thread on handmade display cases and five or six good enquiries I didn't actually get any orders.
I have decided to make a new design, very similar to the one Joe posted (about 3/4 of the way down the first page) in the original thread:

http://www.starwarsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7061

My case will be of similar design, slim line with sliding acrylic doors. I have droped the idea of having a removable frame and made it much sleeker. If anybody wants to see it in person it should be ready to take to the show at the NEC (I will put it in the car and im not carrying it around the show!!!) It is a prototype and I will be open to suggestions about a future design. I have to get some acrylic cut tomorrow and finish off sanding it, hopefully I will have some pictures to post tomorrow evening. If you have any questions drop me a PM.
Pictures to follow, thanks, Ed

This one Ed?

Very cool. I reckon a few people might want one of these. Wouldn't be a bad idea to knock up a few and post them for sale on several of the forums. See how many bites you get.

If you make those Ed you will be laughing- everyone wants one!

I wonder how much that would cost to send over here...

Definitely can't wait to see some pictures Ed! I hope this design gets some interest, slim + compact cases are great for people with limited space, and thats most of us

I think that's a good idea Ed. You can make colour to order i suppose. I do think they would be quite popular.

Cheers guys. Thanks Joe, without the link I wouldn't have redesigned it!!
I will never make a fortune out of them, start to finish there is a good eight hours work in each one, (might get quicker if I do more!) and 35 quids worth of Pine, ply and acrylic. Its a labour if love! Especially when I know they will get filled with vintage!!!

Id defo be interested in something similar, when i have my revenge proof run i want a slim wall mount to put them in, so ill be in touch when i get my final piece :)

Andy, a proof run case would be amazing! Which card do you need? Fett?!

Yeah only need fett for the bounty set, thenas far as collecting and keeping goes thats me done, i prefer just to buy, keep for a bit, resell and start up again on something else, i have so many lines of toys i cant keep collecting! :)

Here's an update for anyone whos interested:
Having attempted to buy acrylic to cover the front I have decided to go for toughened glass- The 2mm acrylic to cover would have been £24!!!! Instead I can get 4mm toughened glass for £18.....Glass it is then. As you can see I have mocked up the shelf with a few figures. You can get an idea of the depth in relation to the MOC Droids Boba Fett.... 8)
The toughened glass will be ready for Friday so fingers crossed I will be able to bring it to the show. You can just see there are two grooves in the top and the bottom of the case, which the glass slide in. There will be two pieces of glass and they will be completely removable. The edges will be rounded so you wont be able to cut your hand.
The price for this case will be £100 including the glass. If anyone is interested in seeing the display case could you pm me your mobile number to me by Friday. I am willing to sell this one if anybody wants it, but it will be later on in the afternoon as I would like to show as many people as possible. You can secure it now if you want by sending me a pm (first come first serve) and you will be able to take it home with you :) (first come first serve) The size is approx 37" and 29" high. It just scrapes into my 200 sx so it should fit in a normal car no problems.
Sorry about the photos, im terrible at taking pictures.

Thanks for looking, Ed

Had an idea, I think it would be possible to put a mirrored back on the case so you can see the back of the figures

Cheers lads, I was worried by the lack of replies that people didn't like them. I've put a post on the cantina site i might try Tig tonight too.
I will make some enquiries about international shipping, for you Emi and Joe ;)
