OK lads, this may sound daft but has anyone ever put any parts (like playset bases) into the dishwasher to clean them? Stuff without stickers obviously. I think I read a post over on RS about this. I normally just use hot water and washing up liquid (also diluted Jif works great on white plastic like Leia/Stormtrooper). Let me know before I do something stupid.

I can't imagine it doing any harm Ryaller, unless after every wash your dishwasher pukes out broken cups , plates and melted plastic lol

Then again if you are putting it in on its own that is a harmful waste of electricity and water so think about the environment and wash it by hand ;)

Yeah I thought so. Decided it was madness and just used some hot water, Jif and a toothbrush and it's turned out great. Lucky I didn't have a few pints down or I probably would've stuck it in with the curry and rice encrusted plates.

I am only bumping this to say :

I was right  You can put plastic vintage playsets in your dishwasher, why would the element melt it if it doesn't melt cups/tubs and anything else plastic you put in there Todd

This guy did it :

Sparkling results

If you put them in one of those wee bag things they give you for some types of dishwasher tablets, and tied the bag to the top shelf (or something not likely to go near the heating elements) would they not be ok?
Obviously, you gotta set the dishwasher at pretty low heat setting as well.

 Yeah wouldn't risk it myself, but I still reckon if your THAT keen to try it, it might work.
