My childhood collection of figures re completed with genuine weapons - thanks Iain.

Sorry for the poor photos.

All of the figures in the wall cabinets are from my childhood. Many of them are knackered but rather than displaying replacement 'mint' figures I've chosen to display them as they are. I've actually bought replacements for some of the worst figures, but I couldn't bring myself to display these instead of the ones that gave me so much pleasure as a child. The vinyl jawa has a FAKE/REPRO cape (nothing to do with Iain obviously), but everything else is genuine.

The Ikea Detolfs toys are mainly my childhood ones, a friend gave me some of his ships a few years ago and Iain provided the land speeder and x wing. My childhood x wing is so battle damaged that only one wing remains! These cabinets are not completed yet. I want to turn them into scenes, but need more time & money for additional figures and missing bits etc

Finally it's my favourite childhood item, the 'Imperial' Attack Base. In the film and as a child the rebels were in the base being attacked by the 'Imperials'. So I'm displaying this correctly, rather than as shown by the picture on the box! I was going to get an acrylic case for the Imperial attack base but then I decided it would be better for people to be able to play with it. Plus it's in such poor condition already that there is no point spending £100's protecting it.

What is next? Replace missing bits from ships etc, get some extra figures for my scenes. I'll probably gradually buy the last 17 that i didn't buy as a child (I've acquired a few already). Plus i think i'll try and complete my cardback collection, especially any that have a Goldies pink ish price tag on them!

I want to finish with a massive thank you to all the people on this forum who have helped me. Many of you have taken the time to answer my questions about 'ideal cabinets', advised me not to swap any of my childhood collection etc etc. So thanks for all your help and advice and for re kindling my childhood passion.

Mate that looks ace - I am glad I was able to help you fill in the gaps and the display that you have made up is brilliant - can't wait to see it grow

Looks great

Brilliant that you've kept your childhood figs condition is irrelevant as you can't get anymore original than your own figs
Hats off great display

Nothing better than your original figures - and happy memories.
Agree 100% about not replacing originals with mint replacements. I have bought a few to complete my 77 line up and then bought a few to replace some worn figures - they look great on display but I couldn't bring myself to put my originals back up in the loft so going to treat them to a Vader case to give them their rightful pride of place in my collection.

Wear = memories :D

Looks great 8) and the fact they are your childhood ones makes em even more special :)

Out of all the collections i see the ones that impress me most are the sets people had as kids. They are more personal and you have the memories of playing with the toys. It doesn't matter that they are a bit beaten up and dirty. The Luke looks like he's been played with in the garden ...or flushed down the bog to see if he comes out the soil pipe

Very very nice collection :D

Impressive, most impressive.
Stunning set up.

What happened to the R2 on the top shelf?
Is that the post Death Star varient :D

The R2 on the top shelf, is the childhood variant. It was battle damaged at home by my brother. When they started releasing battle damaged stuff, we started battle damaging some of our original stuff. We burnt things on the gas ring and inserted bits of wire and stuff. The original R2 got it, the power droids feet were branded with a heated up paper clip and the original x wing that i had was so batttle damaged that only one wing remains. The x wing on display is a replacement from Iain.

loving it!
I remember using my mums hair lacquer as a flame thrower on an action man when I was a kid!!

Blonde Eagle Eyes as well

Great collection and fab display. Gotta agree wholeheartedly with childhood figs trumping the new minters. Love the 'you don't need to see his identification' scene with Ben in full effect. Excellent!
