Different ways to soften the blow from wife/girlfriend.

Every Star Wars collectors greatest fear is that he will die, and his wife will sell his collection for what he told her he paid for it!

Brilliant

My wife has supported me for decades in my passion. As long as it is not a massive amount, I am all good. Sometimes she acts like it is silly, but whenever she gets a chance she is always bragging about the collection to her friends. :D

My wife is as thrifty as they come so I often have to justify the spend. I normally break out the 3 Do I's:

Do I go out drinking every weekend? no
Do I gamble? no
Do I have a football season ticket and disspear every weekend? No.....what's the problem then.......

Blah blah blah

I have been known to send it to my mums house and smuggle it home and stash it away.

Am fortunate to not be 'under the thumb' also my missus is really Kool and loves SW too plus she knows I know what I am doing

My missus is pretty cool with it, although I usually knock a few quid off what I actually paid :) She just jokingly mocks me by calling them my "little dollies". Bloody kiwis

Think I'm one of the lucky ones then, mine doesn't give a rats ass what I spend my money on as long as its not drugs & whores  & I am the same with her, we never argue or bicker about cash, its just money & transient like most things in life & not worth getting flustered about, doubt we will ever own anything of huge value like a house or land, but hey happiness is not gained by wealth IMO, you only need to look at the rich to figure that one out.

Spot on Frank  the real treasure is right under our noses :D

For me Trust and honesty, there is no point otherwise, not being a goody goody, just that it works for me.

I'm lucky, we never argue about who spent what, but then again, my collection is worth about a tenner

Lads your getting to deep for me, but I can only agree.

I can't find the right smiley for this moment so I will leave it to Frank.

It makes me laugh when my wife spends an absolute fortune on hair clothes and cosmetics but thats fine.

She doesnt mind me havin a hobby ...but she would have a fit if she knew the cost of some of my little plastic toys...so a little white lie does no harm to keep the peace.

I dont lie to mine. She's not always happy when I buy stuff but honesty is always the best policy.

Its all a balancing act. Money comes in, bills get paid, savings get saved then treats get brought. I started along the "think of it as a pension" line but she soon came back to me and said, "be honest, you are never going to sell this stuff, are you". And she's right.

This may sound strange but to me, my collection has no value. If I want to buy something, the price is right and I have the spare cash, I will buy it. It then disappears into the collection and I don't care what its worth. I have nothing that is likely to ever go four figures so I don't really care if a MOC I paid £30 for 3 years ago is now worth £75. It cost £30 and Im happy with it in the collection and I only sell stuff I have doubled up on or have upgraded.

I have promised her though, if we are ever on our arses broke, these will be sold. She also knows roughly whats what, particularly the more valuable pieces, just incase anything happens to me. I don't want any snide ebay ****ers getting their hands on it for next to nothing.

I don't drink or smoke or gamble.

I don't go out clubbing ( )

and I still have to hide them from the missus  only joking

She's been good about it all really. She likes Ewoks and Yoda.

I did promise a night of passion in exchange for a special buy - didn't work :? not sure why, in fact she laughed :|
