Did anybody 'collect' first time round?

First post here, but this is fitting with my collection...

I only have the figures i had when i was a kid... So i'm not a collector as such, but man i love this stuff!!

All of the vehicles were donated somewhere at some point, but parents hung on to the figures in the loft, so i have all of those now.

Better than that, i still have two carded figures that have always been mine.

Mum bought them as xmas presents back in the day (guess it must have been '83), hid them on top of thewardrobe, and then they slipped down the back, she must've thought she was having one of her mad moments and hadn't bought them, so went and got them again.

Many years later, the wardrobe got moved (it was a big old mahogany thing, not something you'd want to move often) after the craze for star wars had died down, and the figures were re-discovered.

Thankfully mum stuck them in a drawer and hung on to them for me, parents are antique collectors, so they understand these things.

It's all been sitting in the loft for a while, but i got scared the other week that it would get damp so pulled it out,i had a first edition star wars novel that suffered the damp in a loft, don't know if it was this house or the last.

Will go take a couple of pics in a wee while!

Had to take the pics at an angle because of glare

Mr Leemur, your mum sounds way too cool!

30 year old Xmas presents that look like they've just been opened! :D

Superb bit of luck there. Maybe that's the key to preserve your figures - stick em down the back of a wardrobe! They look factory fresh :)

Yeah they're fairly tidy, little bit of yellowing on Ree Yees' bubble, there's some creasing that' not showing on the photo's though, but who cares, it's all about the history.

I occasionally check on eBay to see how much they go for.. But i know i'd never sell them!

That's a good story - There must be similar items hidden away in homes forgotton about - what do you guys think?

There's got to b some out there somewhere, behind a wardrobe, back of a drawer, under a bed, or maybe as we speak being found by the family dog and chewed to bits!!
