Diamond in the rough Luke Farmboy

I picked up this a few months back. No mention of anything special in the title or description but noticed something in the picture from the rear!!!

Anyway, it turned up a few weeks later and it scrubbed up really nicely with the help of some soap and water.

I sent it in for grading and authentication and was pretty pleased with the way it turned out with the saber displayed fully extended. The saber really is beautifully straight and if it wasn't for the small rub on the left foot it would have got an 85.

Whilst I've been lucky to find some really nice rare items in the past that went unnoticed, the transformation of condition made this pretty special for me. This Luke was definitely a diamond in the rough!

Assuming you got it on eBay, now it's safely in hand would you mind humouring us with a screenshot of the listing? Feel free to obscure the seller etc if you like, just intereted to see how eagle-eyed you were!

It was indeed on eBay. Unfortunately the detailed listing no longer appears as it is literally 90 days since purchase. Yes unfortunately that's how long it took to ship from US to UK, send to AFA for grading and authentication and then send back to the UK again.

The inner saber was only visible in the 2nd picture but only in the top of the arm slot as it was fully retracted. The listing title and description gave no mention of telescoping saber. It literally just said "w-lightsaber".

I can't have been the only one that spotted the saber and thought it was worth the risk as it didn't end up that cheap but it was still a bargain for a nice DT figure.

A couple of mates suggested upgrading the figure which would make sense value wise but I like having the original figure that came with the saber particularly because it scrubbed up so nicely and is part of the whole transformation. I did have doubt's how well it would turn out but I literally used a cotton bud and some warm soapy water and the dirt fell off.

wow amazing find and a great job with cleaning it, I have also cleaned a lot of figures from childhood lots that I have bought and many of them can look new after you have cleaned them

£309. Not great for a beaten up luke Farmboy. But not bad for a nice DT Luke.

The price was getting high when I spotted it. In fact it was kind of what alerted me to their being something interesting. I guess the risk was in the condition, whether there was any damage to the saber and authenticity. Also the current exchange rate is pretty ****** too which really didn't help.

Still a very good price and nice clean up job this is one of those things like the VCJ I wish I'd bought when they were much cheaper, can't bring myself to pay today's prices for either

Thanks for the info and well worth the gamble in the end like the opened moc VCJ that's just gone up in the latest acquisitions page.
