Has anyone ever seen one of these guys completely mint? I have bought several of them and each time I was disappointed. There's always something wrong, be it paint loss, paint mistakes or loose limbs. I'm starting to lose hope of ever finding one that meets my standards. :(

From what I can pick up from loose collectors, he can be a right pain in the arse to try and get in mint condition.

i have only had two....one had been "touched up" with biro on his eyes and the one i have now i am happy with despite a little black line on its chest!

That U90 you talk about originally came from me. It is one of two that have been graded at this level.

I bought it MOC (although it was beaten to hell) and i knew the figure was good so sent it for loose grading. Made a good bit of profit when i sold it. And since then it has changed hands a few times.

Not an eas one to get mint but you can find them.
Good luck on your search.

Steve

He was one of the last figures I purchased to end my loose collection.
I purchased a few and was always disappointed.

Definately a hard figure to find in mint condition.

Ive seen a few ROTJ beater cards in the US for around $30, probably a good chance of getting one and openeing the card up.

Black paint on them always seems to have been done by someone who was pissed

I've got 2 in baggies.

One is in a palitoy baggie, the black paint is excellent but the figure has marks on his body :(
And on the other (popy baggie) the black paint in places looks like it was painted by my 2 year old.

Definately one of the hardest to find mint!

This is probably the 10th or 11th Death Star Droid that I have purchased. Out of all that I had found, this one was the best because the Black paint apps seemed to be a Metallic Gloss Black rather than the more common "Marker" Black that is usually slopped on. Even carded examples i've seen had crummy paint apps. Anyway, here is a pic of that DSD.

Oh wow, that DSD is perfect!

I do have one that I'm satisfied with for now, but if I see a better one I'll probably pick that up.

Thats a sweet DSD. Most of the examples I have seen MOC and loose have a dodgy paint job. It must be the type of plastic used and the paint obviously doesn't stick to it very well.

Grant.

Emiel it never ends

I thought I was ok with most of the ones I had but even the plastic bags did some damage let alone the ones I was never happy with! CUNTY FIGURES!

I know Joe. What happens sometimes is that I see flaws on a figure I didn't see before. And the other way around too strangely enough.

It's one of the nicest examples I have seen. BUT check the black paint on the back of his left shoulder.
