Hi Lads,

I'm waiting on a parcel from the states & it arrived here on tuesday.I've checked the tracking info & it says that its being processed by foreign customs, has anyone else had their parcels held up by customs & if so,how long does it take?

Cheers,

Mark.

Hey Mark, Ive waited up to 6 days for a parcel to clear customs. It can vary greatly and Im not sure whether value is a factor or not. Im sure it will leave there in the next day or two. Normally the next message is "Attempted Delivery Abroad."

This will normally mean its sitting at a parcelforce depot waiting for you to get bummed for charges by them!

its usually 3-5 days i think, sometimes they investigate the contents and try and get a value to see if you are screwing the system out of VAT.

I've got the same thing going on. Mine arrived in the UK yesterday....Hoping to have it this week :) Hopefully :?

Let me guess....

Parcelfarce?

Jason

You're right Jason,it was Parcelfarce!

I've been stung for £17.76,£8 handling fee & £9.76 for import VAT.I've no idea how they can come up with £9.76 when the value was $45 & marked as a gift???

I've paid the cunts but i'll be disputing the charges especially since Steve said that there should only be a 5% charge!

It might be an idea to print off the important information that Steve has provided showing what the charge *should* be and take it along with you when you pick stuff up in the future, then you can just say - how about you guys take a look at this and stop overcharging people you ****ing cunts!

The thing is its not the courier firms (parcelforce, Royal Mail, DHL) who charge you. Working for Royal Mail we get asked all the time why iot has been charged. We can only point you to a number that is on the customs sticker to find out why. The one thing I dont understand, even working for Royal Mail, is where they get the £8 charge for themselves. WE have to pay customs to get the item to released to us but £8 is a bit steep.
