nice guy good 1st class player, shame he couldn't convert his 1st class averago of 50'odd to the test arena, i think had he been picked for his england debut after he was 30 he would been of the worlds top test batsmen hes played amazingly for surrey for the past 10 years!

Good player, but from what I've heard at International level he was too insecure and 'precious' to really succeed.
Shame.

I think he should have gotten another chance at Test level - but perhaps playing domestically prelonged his career

he should been repicked for england about 6-7 years ago he was a well seasoned and a maturer player, i remember he averaged over a 100 for a few seasons @ at surrey a while back. he'll be remembered as nearly man like graeme hick when it comes to test cricket england

He always use to get into the 20's and then out for England, such a frustrating player as he had all the talent in the world, I think he just tried to hard. Same with Hick although second half of his carear Hick averaged above 40 for England and while not realising his full talent had a few good knocks. This England Team as good as they are, are lucky they weren't about in the early 90's when you had Ambrose, Walsh, Donald, Wasim and Waqar, Warne and McGrath. I'm sure they both would have had a field day with the bowling in world cricket now and averaged far higher.

That's just after the 2005 Ashes. Ok that team never actually played together after the 4th test, but it was a bloody solid team. I don't see where he would have fitted in, or how he would have improved/strengthened the team.

brett lee has hung up his boots, about time i guess, hes been injury prone for a while now. the aussies bowling line up is pretty weak these days

Remember him this way.....

He's massive in India, & someone talked him into doing some Bollywood stuff. He should stick to his day job.........oh, hang on, he hasn't got a day job any more!

Never thought much of Brett Lee TBH, we need some more mongrel in our test players he and a few of the current day players seem more interested in how they look than how they play.

Bring back the mustache wearing, over weight characters of the 70's and 80's, sure we didn't win all that often back then but we're not winning thses days either and it was a whole lot more fun to watch.

I act had quite a bit of respect for Brett Lee. When he started out in professional cricket he got a part time job in a tailors, I assume CA sorted it for him, and even after he started breaking into the Aussie side he used to do a bit of work in there. Fair play to him, most sports stars would have run a mile and never gone back. Apparently he can still tell you your suit measurements etc (insert your own funny) just by looking at you.

I'm not questioning him as a person, I'm sure he's a lovely bloke ( when he's not gawking at other fellas in suits ). Just never too keen on him as a cricketer, I really miss the Boonie, Border & Jones era, very little interest these days.

Maybe I'm just turning in to an old grumpy fart, I'll start all of my sentences with....'back in my day' from now on.

Lol, aye those sort of characters are gone from pretty much all international sport now. Andrew Symonds was about as close as you'd get to one of them now.

gutted that kp is missing the final test! If England win the the 3rd test KP's detractors will no doubt claim long and loud that he is surplus to requirements. If on the other hand England were to lose the match, the very same detractors will blame it all on KP for distracting & dividing the team. So all in all, it looks as if we will not see KP in an England team again. Well, I for one will miss him hid thumping knocks

My money would be on Trotty moving up and then either Bell at 3 pr them brining in a youngster. I'd say it'll depend on what they do with Pietersen. Chances are Bairstow/Taylor or even Bopara/Morgan will be given a chance.

Fair play to Straussy though, great captain and great player. Last year to 18 months hasn't seen him scoring the runs he normally would, but take nothing away from him, the job he's done taking England from the mess he inherited (they'd just lost to the ruddy windows) to world no 1 is pretty special.
