Everytime I shell out money, I am always counting the cost in terms of vintage Star Wars toys.

Yesterday for example my car windscreen got smashed. I phone up the insurance fellas and they tell me it's going to be £75 excess to replace it. In my head I'm going... "£75? I could get a Yak Face for that! Or a boxed Falcon"

 I used to do that all the time. Hmmmm if I didn't pay this electricity bill I could easily afford that VC Jawa, and so on.

Damn essentials of life getting in the way of my collecting!

So true  ... last month I let my road tax expire by 5 days, and a traffic warden stung me with a $200 fine. Then two days later I failed to "completely" stop at a stop sign (no ****ing traffic coming either way!! ) and who should be behind me but Mr Plod... another $150  I could have bought a 12-back MOC with that money!

So very true Jamie.

I keep wanting to update all my star cases for acrylic case's but then I think "I could buy X amount of MOC's for that".

Having that at the moment :? There's an item I really want but also need a new air compressor so I can paint my car. Will probably just get both, or maybe just not bother doing the paint

Got a fine for speeding a few months ago and ended up thing 'damn! that would have paid for at least a couple of reseals  '

You mean I'm not alone in doing this? Thank the maker!

Finally got around to putting down a new cheap-ass floor in our kitchen, all the time thinking - 'goddammit, could have got a blue Snag for this...', although he would have been tricky to mop.

I did but then for some reason I stopped and I don't really know why that is. I guess it's because I've been in large payment plans a lot and Avnet had things flowing through the door lately.

...really.? :? :?
Must admit its never crossed my mind in the slightest.

I feel you on this one @Pigcity

Never crossed my mind :? But I would rather pay my **** 1st before buying any toys or material things. That's just me thou

After reading this thread I'll probably start thinking like that

To be honest, i have thought like that before, but recently i started thinking the other way around. When i buy something vintage, i think i could do something else with the money, but weird thing is, i wouldn't know what... I mean, i have everything i need, so don't wanna spend money just to spend it, but on the other hand, when i spend it on non SW purchases, i mostly regret it anyway.. :(

LOL me too, i sat looking at my collection a year ago and thought...there's a 5 figure sum there, i could get a new car, clothes, watch and take kids on holiday :)

ive trimmed the collection way down now, i the collecting bug still strikes but you need a fine balance to feed the addiction.

I suppose its different for everyone. If it was a choice of a holiday with the kids and the Mrs the lot would go in a blink of an eye no questions.

I'm assuming you mean the SW stuff and you're not that clear

very good, yes the SW would go out the window in an instant if it was between a family holiday (only my collected stuff though never my childhood collection, that shits priceless)

Very true......holding off buying 3 acrylic cases that I really do need, but keep spending the spare funds on figures and the odd MOC.

Just had to fork out £250.00 on new brake pads and disc's on my car.........I could have bought a very nice MOC for that, but safety first otherwise I would't be here to buy any MOC's

I am disturbed by this thread I would never trade my collection for a week or two week holiday. **** no! That lot has taken me years to collect, some of it goes back twenty years or more.

The only reason i would get rid is if I was skint and couldn't pay the bills.
