For those that don't know all the lovely madness that is SDCC starts this weekend and news is leaking out. For Lego fans this is an exciting one, both with the exclusives and new figures but mainly as one of the most requested Star Wars sets will be unvalied on Saturday - Rancor Pit...

Not that i follow the Hasbro stuff anymore but i have always found sirstevesguide.com a good guide to what is out there and they always have a lot of pictures

Drool.. Heres hoping the Rancor pit comes with the Rebo band, or at least they do a modular set up, like the original Jabbas Palace, Message and Prize sets.

Some of the minifigure exclusives look great, I think I will miss out on those, its getting too expensive to collect the exclusives on the secondary market

Yeah
The thought of the rancor pit is exciting, a Max Rebo to go with it would be great, but I am guessing a Rancor Keeper, a Luke, maybe another Gam Gaurd, the Rancor itself and maybe 1 or 2 others depending on the price point. I read a comment a few months back that the four holes that were deliberately built into the bottom of the new palace this year might be for a future connection to another set, if that is the case it will be spectacular. After all, the 2003 palace had distinct bolt on sets.

So many exclusives, 4 super heroe figures, darth maul mini rig, scavenger hunt frodo, and half a dozen Hobbit characters - Lego have gone to town this year.

No way to get these without killing the bank account.

Bag end is also there if you are a hobbit fan, and that looks great.

The rancor is awesome but the set is a little light for me. That said with some customisation it will work well (lots of cliff pieces needed I think), so happy days, also with only a few figs I think the price should be down closer to £50 than the £120 the Palace was set at.

Oh wow, theres two must have sets for me. Bag end looks incredible. The best lego set I have ever seen.

The Rancor set does look a little light, but I reckon with the Palace set it will look the nuts :lol: I like the way they have finished the floor, it almost looks UCS quality (whats there anyway!!)

Wht do you reckon Bag end will be? £80? Maybe a little less. That will be sat under my tree as a present to myself :lol:

Well the Lego new rather went quiet after Saturdays super hero display.
on other news we learnt:

1 - the hobbit may become a trilogy or at least get extended versions later down the road
2 - Iron man 3 is set over the festive period where Tony Stark will be the only one not warming his toes by the fire
3 - The next Captain America will involve the Winter Soldier

And yes Hasbro's really did release a Jar Jar Binks in carbonate figure as this years exclusive...
