come on england

What trohpy would that be?
The "****ing up a very easy qualifying group" trophy!?

England have zero chance of winning the Euro's so I don't know why everyone is bothered about actually qualifying!!

If they don't go out tonight they will be out in early June!!

Bring back Sven !!

I have only seen the highlights as I was at work when the match was on but I was surprised to see Carson playing in such an important match ahead of David James. :?

England have the best group of players for many years but as soon as they go on the pitch they hardly ever produce a decent performance for some reason. With the injuries to the whole back four (Neville, Terry, Ferdinand and Cole) it was never going to be easy but I'm not sure any manager could make this side good enough to ever win a World Cup or Euro final. Maybe give the job to Alan Shearer as the players respect him and at least he might bring in new ideas and not be afraid to bollock some of them when they need it unlike the seemingly soft and friendly Sven and McClaren regimes.

Northern Ireland beat them a couple of years ago and now you could say Scotland are a better team than England even though maybe only one of their players (Craig Gordon) could get into the England side!! 8)

Cheers for the reminder of us beating your lot Craig, but I hadn't forgotten! :D

My thoughts on England haven't changed for the last 15 months.

McClaren is/was THE WRONG MAN FOR THE JOB!
JUST because you are English does not mean you will be able to manage the England team better than a non English man. For **** sake, does being English give you some divine ability to manage?
If so name me the last ENGLISH manager to led a team to a top four finish in premiership?

Anyone!?

It's Bobby Robson with Newcastle in 2002-3. Thats five ****ing years ago! AND he had already been England Manager, and quite a good one. The last before him was Roy ****ing Evans with Liverpool in 1997-98, TEN years ago.

So much for a divine right to manage.

Don't get me wrong I'm far from anti-English (despite how this might sound) and I wasn't Sven's number 1 fan. He was great at getting you to tournaments, but his tactics once there were very limited. STILL he got you there!

What England, the Press, the fans and the FA need to realise is that 'YES' you do have a very talented bunch of players. BUT, if your manager is an idiot and tactically naive you won't win anything. For **** sake Lawrie Sanchez out thought McClaren!
Get the best man for the job in, regardless of his nationality, be he Iranian, North Korean or bloody Harold Shipmann. AND then give him a bit of time to sort the ****ing mess out! (I.e get the press to **** up and leave him alone).

Will any of this happen!?
WILL IT BOLLOCKS!

I'm waiting for Harry Redknapp/Fat Sam or Curbs to named the new boss and us to have this same discussion in another 18 months.

My lot? I support Scotland not England !!

I'm half English and half Scottish but my dad would never let me have an England shirt !!

McClaren has officially gone now so if they do go for a foreign manager I would go for Gerard Houllier !! He won loads of cup competitions for Liverpool and although he never managed to win the league he has done it in France with Lyon.

Half English = your lot, in my book!

I honestly don't know who will be interested in the England job. Scolari was scared off by the press, Hiddink seems happy enough at Russia and there aren't a great deal of other top notch managers about. Maybe, after the Euro champs one will be available.
Or you could try to tempt Marcello Lippi, but I don't think he'd fancy it.

I don't rate him either, you can have him!

Mind you, god only knows who else we could get who would be brave/dumb enough to take over!

Surely there's only one option......

He's fat he's round.....

Sammy Lee

He's unemployed, and what with the millions the FA are paying out to ex-managers he could be had for about Ã'£10 a week. Could he do any worse than McClaren

If you picked Jason Lee and Jimmy Greaves (aged 80 whatever he is) you wold do better than McClown!
