OK I sold a Yoda - buyer opened a case saying the cape was frayed at bottom.

No problem we all make mistakes I emailed stating a full or part refund plus postage costs is cool or whatever they preferred - its not a problem.

The guy now won't reply to my emails.

I imagine he knows the system and is waiting to be refunded by ebay, but what's to stop the guy just keeping Yoda as well?

Not had this problem as a seller before so a bit in the dark :?

Just weird how there has been no reply I've been very helpful :?

Cheers

Hey Andy :) the curse of eBay strikes again

Hopefully the buyer is just away and unable to respond.

Otherwise if eBay favour with the buyer then they will only refund once the buyer has provided proof of postage which has to be tracked.

I'm pretty sure they can't get away with keeping the item and getting a full refund at least I hope they bloody can't :x it may however result in a negative feedback score :(

Either way block the buyer so they can't return to bother you again.

I hope it all turns out well :)

Hey Stephen :D I've not been on much hope all is well.

I hope that is the case mate. He may be away or something.

I know it may result in a negative :( I'm 100% at the moment with over 900 score.

I just have a bad feeling about this!!

Bloody evilbay

Btw ...like the Han quote :D

Hey, in this case it doesn't matter if the buyer responds. Better for you he doesn't.
You need to go into the case and select the "return item for a refund" option. Offer no other alternative.
Then the buyer has to return the item for a refund. If he does not or does not respond then ebay will find in your favour. It's a rare seller friendly loophole.

Hope it works out for you.

Yeah this has happened to me a couple of times, where the buyer is either being a dick or just opens a case and won't respond to messages. So rather a load of back and fourth and risk losing the item and my money i just select the "return item for a refund". Often then what happens is the buyer tries to work something out as usually they want to keep the item, they were just pushing their luck. But also, on a couple of occasions the buyer has just closed the case without word (i.e. tried it, didn't work) and like i said before, another buyer just never responded and ebay closed the case and found in my favour.
Simples.

Pete is spot on

every now and then i will get a buyer open a case (they normally ask for a partial refund) and say there was some damage ect, i ask for pics, if i dont get them or i know they are just trying to get some cash back i just specify him to return the item for a full refund.

the buyer can reject that and pass the case to ebay but most times they just quit and leave neg feedback.

Well less thank 24 hrs after taking Pete's advice the seller sent a short email saying he has been busy with work and is closing the case! :D

Thanks again for the top advice chaps

I get a lot of these, dicks trying it on.

We lose the odd one, recently a guy posted a receipt number in the case return and ebay clearly didnt check it as the receipt was not for my address, kept a £35 apple charger and now theres nothing I can do. Aside from going round his house....

The usual excuse for non respondees is the 'death in the family' line - "I was going to return the item 3 months ago, but...". Its amazing how many family members pass away when there is an ebay dispute. Maybe theres a link.. should the government step in.

I've been lucky with ebay - so far!

It puts me off hearing such stories shocking mate

Myself and my business partner now have a 'tard of the day' competition to see which ebayer brings us the most joy with their insane question.

My new favourite is the guy who wanted to know if our "faulty (for spares) keyboard with missing key" worked okay, how to install it and did it have missing keys. It was almost too tempting to not say anything... its as if we should get rid of titles. pictures and just put 'YOUR keyboard that you might want'. that would at least justify the questions.. I'm struggling to understand what part of the listing did he look at before deciding to email us.

But, don't let it put you off, it makes us money and that is the general public in a nutshell...
