Right, I've decided to start collecting MOC figures and have a bit of a query. I want to collect the figures on the cards from the original films they came from e.g. a Princess Leia Organa on either a 12 or 21 back. Were the only first issue figures on tri-logo the last 17 or were there otheres, i.e. Teebo?

Either I haven't got my thinking hat on or that is a rather confusing question lol

What do you mean by first issue figures? The first 12/21? The last 15 were all made on Trilogo cards, Teebo is from ROTJ and is neither "first issue" nor a last 15/POTF figure.

Sorry I don't really understand but if you are interested in which figures were released on Trilogo cards you can look here: http://trilogo.info/intro-history/what-are-trilogos/

Almost all the figures in the Vintage line were repackaged on some form of Trilogo card with the exception of the following figures:

4-LOM
Death Squad Commander
C3-P0 (original)
R2-D2 (original)
Power Droid
Walrus Man

**(R2-D2 original can be found on early French Meccano cards and the Death Squad Commander exists on a "miscard" which was a method used to clear overstock figures)

***Greedo, Cloud Car Pilot, Hammerhead, both Bespin Guards and Snaggletooth were released but not on "true" front and back Trilogo cards.

Yeap, probably didn't explain that well at all! I'll probably try again when I get home from work (still probably won't make much sense!)

Hi,

That link doesn't work. What I'm trying to do is collect Palitoy figures on their original card, e.g. Star Wars figures on Star Wars cards (either 12 or 21 backs), Empire figures on Empire cards (not bothered about the backs), Jedi figures on Jedi cards (again not bothered about backs). Therefore the only tri-logos are the ones where the figures only appeared on that card - i.e. their first issue.

Probably not much clearer!

cheers

Just the last 15. Which is the last 17 minus Paploo and Lumat. They were the last on Jedi.

Not quite correct, Trilogos were brought in around the second wave of ROTJ figures so there are a few that were only released on Trilogos ahead of the last 15. 8D8, Nikto, Klaatu skiff, Teebo etc.

Theslider - The question makes more sense now yep, so by the looks of it you are going for Palitoy cards only right? If not and you are going to be collecting Kenner then don't worry about Trilogo cards as they were only available in Europe and as a continuation of the line produced by Palitoy/Meccano/PBP (etc)

On Kenner cards you can get all the ROTJ figures on ROTJ backs, all the last 15/17 on POTF backs etc

Oh and the link does work it is just being a bit slow today sorry.

Can always try to navigate from the main page though if it is easier: http://trilogo.info/

Edit - Can't beat Jason's matrix for Palitoy cards though from SW through to Trilogos!

Hi all,

Yeap just looking for Palitoy cards only really.

So let me get this straight, going off the matrix only the following Return of the Jedi figures were only available on Palitoy tri-logo cards:

Nikto
8-D8
Wicket
The Emperor
B-Wing Pilot
Klaatu (Skiff Guard outfit)
Han Solo (Trench coat)
Teebo
Prune Face
AT-ST Driver
Rancor Keeper
Lumat
Paploo

and then the last 15?

To cut a long story short, I don't want to buy a Tri-logo when a ROTJ card is available!

cheers

Good luck with that, it's a very tough thing to do, but not impossible.

You might want to do a search on various Palitoy discussions on here as that will give you an idea as to the difficulty of finding certain figures.

How concerned are you by condition?

Not bothered too much with condition - as long as the bubble is still sealed then I'm in! As a side note, I would assume that it's easier to get the first 12 on 21 back cards?

No

The first 12 can only be got on 12 back cards, the next 8 on 20 backs. There is no Palitoy 21 back.

If you're not concerned about condition I might be able to help out on a few.

However if you're going for Palitoy, it is going to cost you a hell of a lot of money and take an enourmous amount of time.

I will happily offer what help/advice I can. I've managed it so it is possible

Cheers! I've got all the time in the world, but not that much money! I'll be bending your ear often then I think!

10K?!!!

Bloody Hell, I knew they were rare but not to that extent! I'll sell it to the Mrs that they're investment pieces!

I take it that's for minty mint examples then?

Not neccesarily.

That last time I heard for a complete set selling I think the price was £15k, though I could be wrong on that.

Current Palitoy prices might suggest 10k for average condition.

Your problem with the first 20, as I'm sure many on here will tell you will be

Chewie
Luke
Han
Ben
Leia

Many a set is missing those first two.

And they are common compared to some of the ESB ones!

I think not being concerned about condition as long as sealed, and not being concerned on ESB cards whether they are 30, 41, 45a or b will make it much more doable.

I'm sure there's a thread somewhere where there's a list of the easiest backs on which to get the ESB figures.

Just missed out on a Bespin Guard and a Ben on eBay - gutted! The latter was a reseal but looked good, so by going by what you say I'll be very fortunate to get any of those!

Yeap, not concerned about the backls of the cards, though I would prefer the cards which have the Palitoy logo on the front.

Most ESB characters are available with the logo. You'll have the choice of 30a, 30b, 41, 45a. I think it's only Zuckuss that you won't be able ot get because as far as we know it never existed.

ESB Palitoy logo characters are notoriously tough but they are all out there on at least one of those cardback variations.

But they are going to be expensive, even in not so great condition.

Really tough ones will be

Fett (30, 41 or 45a you could be looking anywhere from 1k up. Offers of 5k on a 30 back have been made)

WBG

CCP

Bossk, Fx7 and IG88 can be tricky though tend to be harder on some cardbacks than others.

C3P0 removeable limbs, Luke Hoth and Dengar have also been really hard for people to find.

I'm sure other collectors can tell other ones that have proven a nightmare to find.

Oh dear, looks like I've opened a can of worms here! Thanks for the info though! I'm in no particular rush, might have to go down the reseal route for some of them, especially as the only reseal I've seen in person (an ESB stormie looked pretty good to my eyes - was going to flip it, but I've decided to keep it even though it's on a Kenner card).

I had a resealed Jawa in my collection for years as it looked better than any sealed ones I found.

Like I said, I think it's doable, but will take time, luck and money.

If you started a thread specifically about Palitoy, you might get additional advice from other Palitoy collectors on here.
