It's national poetry day so I had to drop a ditty...... ( had to end with my fav Kipling  )

What do we see in these little plastic men,
From days gone by, from those days when,
Nor mobile phone or social media,
Up the garden path would lead ya,
We spent our time with our boys toys,
That gave us endless fun games and joys.
Then all to soon serious we became,
Aside some cast their toys as lame,
But to the dreamer, the man and boy,
Still a prized possession not just a toy,
A tactile reminder of history days,
It's in your genes, yes there it stays,
So we can talk with crowds and keep our virtue,
Or walk with Kings, nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes, nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you but none too much,
Yours is the Galaxy and everything that's in it,
And which is more you'll be a man my son!

Keep the faith

Michael, you truly are a wordsmith. That's the second poem I've read today (and as many over the last 2 years, truth be told) and it's the second one that has resonated with me :)

The following are not my words but it really touched me today. Quite apt given recent news within my wife's family so I found it quite powerful and wanted to share it:

The Laughing Heart by Charles Bukowski

your life is your life
don't let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch.
there are ways out.
there is light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.
be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
know them.
take them.
you can't beat death but
you can beat death in life, sometimes.
and the more often you learn to do it,
the more light there will be.
your life is your life.
know it while you have it.
you are marvelous
the gods wait to delight
in you.

Awesome.

That's a great piece great read.

I love poetry, not in a nerdy way, but for what it is, expression from the heart.

One of my fav is IF by rudyard Kipling ( hence the last part of my ditty)

But an awesome piece of writing is the Poem Invictus, have a read of it
