Probably a newbie question, just wondering about the above? Grading can provide authentication of the figure and also provide a guide on the condition of the figure / card.

I don't go in for grading myself (don't believe in it), but as others will tell you UKG is the way to go and they do grade loose figures (as thankfully they won't touch U grades). Not sure about bootlegs. I'm sure one of the bootleg guys will know more.

Pretty sure AFA don't grade bootleg figures and I doubt that UKG do either

Edit - Opps - looks like I am wrong

It's pretty retarded to grade bootlegs, but they do it, especially retarded is U grading items that were only stapled onto the cards they came from.

Here's a prime example of such stupidity:

$80 for a $10 loose figure. Good investment smaht guy!

Thanks!! Got the point!! This only arise because people were doubting rare bootleg pieces if they were original, if graded then it put the buyers mind at rest??

With any ultra rare bootleg item, AFA would call Tom Derby for authentication..... Tom Derby would in turn be calling me,if it weren't obvious as to what the item was... so if anyone has any questions they need answered before making a large scale bootleg purchase, just cut out the middle man and message me. If I can't tell via pics, I'd need the item sent to me (along with return postage) and I'd authenticate anything that you were unsure of, for free for anyone in the community.
So unless you're too hooked on little hologram stickers on your figure case, when it comes to bootlegs, I'm more than glad to be of help.

Cheers
J
