Hello gents

Basically I had 2 afa 80y graded rotj figures for sale (chewie and luke jedi) both of which were available on "buy it now" for £60 each and with free special delivery, couple of watchers but nothing.Listed 3 times in a row (nothing)

I then decided to auction them as they had been doing my head in for a while,I was surprised to see luke sell for £62+£5 postage and chewie sell for £68+£5 postage??

I'm basically trying to figure out if this kind of thing is common place,or if some ebayers are just so loaded they dont give a duck about paying more than they need to?

I was surprised and may stick with auctions in the future (is that wise?) :?

Any opinions on that or any similar stories then i'd love to hear them

Cheers stef.

Auctions are a bit risky as if there is no interest, and you odn't have a reserve, you can end up selling at a stuidly low price.
I'm surprised they both sold so highly though, especially as you had them listed before at lower BIN's.
Fair play to you though.

Its a lottery,

i listed a 12 back vader for £550 obo for 3 or 4 weeks and got nothing but crap (yeah it was well overpriced) but the last time i listed it i got an offer of £500 so i said thank you sir and accepted :)

but i have auctioned stuff and got crap prices, its best to try the pshycological approach and start at 99p, free postage etc and let people battle it out.

Personally I like an auction against a fixed price unless it has best offer, I am heading for a bargain but I also enjoy the competition and you get that "I don't want to lose" rage that makes you bid higher!

It ultimately is a lottery like Andy said, I have seen items not sell at fixed prices for weeks even months and yet when changed to an auction the do better anyway!

I see this thing quite a lot Stu, people don't like BINs as they're not getting a bargain. a few things I've watched have sold for more as an auction than they were listed as initially as BINs.

But it is still a gamble...
