Ive always been a believer that the heat sealing technique should more or less last at least my life time, of course some errors will occur.

But as Im now up north visiting my parents and going thru all my old stuff looking for that Yak Face I know is hidden somewhere I came across some Phantom Menace pencil and eraser sets, it had the waffle pattern and I could see a slight lift to the bubble. With the slightest of touches the whole thing came clean off with no trace of there ever have been a bubble there.

Not being in to the whole modern collecting thing I was wondering if methods changed over time to a less durable technique when it comes to sealing figures ?

That being said, the item I found probably havent been stored in the ideal conditions, but still stored inside a house all the time.

So, guessing this will eventually happen to all the bubbles, I was just wondering what makes the 12 backs hold up so well in all aspects opposed to other bubbles ? ROTJ turning yellow, other bubbles popping of their cards etc.. Of course the type of plastic used plays a big part. Can we expect to have minty loose collections anytime soon ? Or will the modern collectors have their mocs last only a fraction of the time ?

Ill still hope and believe my vintage stuff will last forever, just got a scare today when that waffle sealed thing just came off the card so easily

I'd imagine that seal was probably weak to start with. IMO if a seal is rock solid, then it won't ever fall off.
