Breaking my collection???

Great news on the house Jez, like I and others have said, Family is the be all and end all bud :D
Great that your holding on to the LXW collection :D

Good luck with your sales and good luck with your plans bud :D

Very cool all round, mate. I'm glad (and only a little gutted ) that you're keeping hold of the LXW focus as it would have been a crying shame to break up that awesome collection.

That really is some collection you have. I am sure like others there are pieces that we would all love to own.
I like Edds idea though of not selling anything that is rare or hard to get or the cheaper mocs. You may some day build it up again. At least by selling the high end pieces you will get a quick hit of alot of cash which will be a good help for the house.
It would be nice if whoever did buy anything from you should they ever decide to move it on that you got first shout at buying it back for the same money. I know thats not the way things always go but it would be a nice gesture. It's never nice seeing a collection no matter how big or small having to be sold to fund other needs.
Anyway good luck with your sales they will make alot of people happy I am sure.

Sorry to read this Jez, had to do the same to pay the stamp duty when we bought a couple of years back.

Sorry to be the voice of reason, but a collections value and what you can quickly liquidate it for are two different things. You will not sell 80 carded figures at one event unless prices are stupidly cheap. You have some great items but also a lot that are hard to sell for good money (eg the Kenner 77 backs) so if you're looking for a quick sale cash value, you need to prepare yourself for well under market value - perhaps 40-50% which is a common "trade price."

Two bits of advice - don't sell anything you can't replace, and sell the expensive but easy to replace (eg 12 back luke) first. It's the £1000 MOCs that will dent a deposit, not the £25 ones! Then if you still need to sell the rest in bulk to a dealer.

Good luck!

Thanks again Ed. Well after 3 weeks i'm now in the position where i have sold all but 1 of them! I think i've done well and Iain's valuation definitely helped me out. I managed to sell about 40 at Farthest From and have since sold 30, some still to deliver at the London Meet Up etc but most posted out. The Luke collection and Loose figures have remained safe in my care (to be displayed again one day).
