Hi fella,
I have been told that repro cannons are available for x wings these days, so you might want to post on here to find out how you tell. You have some yellowing on the ship, which you wont shift unless you take apart the whole ship and submerge in hrdrogen peroxide food grade 36% ( I have done this and it does work, but it isnt a very popular soloution) It depends how white you want it.
Whats the box like? If you didnt pay much then I would give the peroxide a go on the ship. There are threads on here for it and you might not have to take it apart as it isnt the electric version :)

I will ask the question you raised
Obviously if take the peroxide route that'll destroy the stickers to leave as a whitey
Presume you can pick up original sticker sheets ( I know there are repro ones about!)

Box is ok no great shakes

That's quite dirty. Try giving it a bath first. Give it a scrub in the sink and i bet it'll come up ok. You are right about the stickers though. Not sure if you can replace them. You would be lucky to find genuine replacements. I have no doubt that repro ones are available but they aren't popular on here.

If you do go down the peroxide route then you will need at least a couple of bottles from the chemist. I submerged a 12 inch stormtrooper and he came up brilliant white. Also it doesn't damage paint. Tis a good method except it takes about three weeks to do. You just leave the parts submerged for that time. The longer you leave it the whiter it gets.

I'll try toothbrush ad soapy water and bit of patience first

See how it goes, would like to keep stickers in situ if I can

Cheers for the advice guys much appreciated

That's the best thing to do IMO Michael Sith. Although I have seen the battle damaged stickers for sale, I can't remember ever having seen the base stickers.

Use a very small toothbrush and baby shampoo and see how much you can do to remove the dirt.
