Hello again,

A writer has submitted this page http://en.wikicollecting.org/blue-snaggletooth-star-wars-collectible on the open source collecting encyclopedia Wikicollecting, for which I'm a moderator.

It regards a mysterious Star Wars collectible known as a Blue Snaggletooth.

I was hoping this forum's members would be able to cast their expert eyes over it and tell me if:

• This page was accurate and useful?
• There is anything missing?

Here at Wikicollecting we aim for our site to be as accurate and interesting as possible.

Any advice or amendments you can make, either on the page itself or this forum, would be much appreciated.

Thanks again

Dan

Said to be the rarest Star Wars figure on the market, the Blue Snaggletooth was produced by Kenner in 1978 as part of its Early Bird releases.

Incorrect, the Early bird set of figures consisted of R2-D2, Princess Leia, Chewbacca and Luke Skywalker.

In fact the Blue Snaggletooth was released only through a store called Sears, who had a deal with Kenner to release a playset called the Cantina Adventure set. Blue Snaggletooth was released through this set with 3 other figures: Greedo, Snaggletooth and Hammerhead.

Kenner's toy designers were forced to create the figure from a black and white photograph of the character's head, prior to the release of the first Star Wars film in 1977.

That is probably true yep, Lucasfilm reference photos were often black and white. Another factor that affected the first figures was simply time. Kenner had to really rush to get items out for the kids and I doubt anyone at the time was that fussed with what was being made. However the figure was corrected after it became known that the tall blue guy was actually supposed to be a little red guy.

The designers were apparently given head shots of these characters and without knowing the real height of the character, he was made in the 3 3/4 scale just like most of the other figures.

Upon realising these errors, production of the Blue Snaggletooth was halted, making them extremely rare.

While it was an error that was corrected, there literally are tonnes of these figures out there, so extremely rare is really an exaggeration. If you were to type in Blue Snaggletooth on ebay once every week you would find at least 10-15 different ones listed each and every week.

And just because I always found it interesting, there is this extra bit of information that not everyone knows about -

The motif/logo on the figures belt buckle actually came from one of the Kenner toy designers business cards, which had that odd shape on it. How is that for inspiration? :)

(Oh and again-the picture in your article is a custom made Snaggletooth which has been repainted - you should look for another picture)

Lol guys I don't think I will be helping for every single figure!

I wonder who is actually writing the original articles, it's clear they have no clue which is a shame for the site and the mods that have to come here to check the info is accurate.

Nah, not enough swear words or spelling mistakes in it for it to be me!

Ohh and a little too accurate as well, I know FA about SW!

Weasels article-

"Blue Snaggletooth- ..well, he's just a big blue fecker really. Probably from Star Trek or some shite like that!"

Looks like I have some work ahead of me on this one!

Thanks again to you all for your help - will post up the updated version so you can see your handiwork in due course.

Dan

Here is a pic off both variations "dented toe vs undented toe".

Cheers, Dennis.
