Best tablet for reading etc

Ok guys,

the wife is buying me a Kindle Fire for xmas as im a bookworm,but i also want something i can browse the internet on etc.Ive seen some cheaper tables on Ebay,but am i right in saying they wont let me read Kindle books etc? its confusing as there are so many tablets but finding which ones can do what,and which book formats can be read.

ANy help would be great-although the Fire is my fave at the minute.A quick explanation of online books etc,and compatibility to different e-readers/tables would be great too.

If you download 'Calibre' you will be able download books and use on most portable devices.

Do a Google on Calibre

You can browse the internet with a Kindle Fire mate. It's a regular tablet.

You can download the kindle app to any tablet. Wife has a kindle but I use my galaxy tab and it works grand (unless the sun is out)

i would go for the google nexus mate, you just download the kindle app for it, it is the best 7" tablet out there in my opinion, beats the ipad mini too.
