Be glad to see the back of 2013

Been a bad year in general this year, to top it all, one of my cavalier King Charles spaniels died in the early hours of this morning, she was 9 and was a rescue dog, who had been used as a breeder, so she had been stuck in a kennel for years :!: , really timid when we got her and scared to heck of men, but gradually she accepted me, and ended up being my best mate, going to really miss her, but she didn't suffer, and died in her sleep.

I know there are some really bad things happening, and people think, it's
Only a dog, but to me was my pal, and it's a very sad day

Sorry to hear your sad news Mike, pets aren't just animals to most pet owners, they are part of the family and that's why it hurts as much as it does when we lose them (especially when you have had them a long time too).

2013 wasn't a great year for me either so I am totally with you! **** 2013 and hurry up and get here 2014!

Sorry to hear that Michael. I had a King Charles spaniel when I was younger. It got to 14 and was my buddy through my teens.

Angel had a good life whilst with us, went from being a kennel dog, to lady of the manor :!: , plus she didn't suffer and died peacefully.

I know how you feel Michael. When i had to have my male cat down earlier this year, it tore my heart out. As soon as I was in bed he would be there wanting cuddles. He would get under the cover and stretch out along side me and lean on me, he was like a hot water bottle. Still have his sister but he was my little man.

Keep your chin up buddy. Having animal is a bitter sweet thing. When you have them they give you so much love and fun, but you know at some point they will be gone. Even though we all know that it still is the hardest thing to accept.

Dogs are definitely a man's best friend and like a member of the family. Sorry about your pal passing away Mike.

We had a springer from when I was a baby. Lived for about 13 years. My best mate

It's never just a pet dude, my cat is my world, I get how that would knock you about... 2013 I agree has not been the best so I shall stick my two fingers to the sky... Bring on 2014

Sorry to hear that Mike. I had a rescued border collie and he died 6 years ago. I still have dreams that I'm walking him and stuff, and wake up all upset when I realise he's gone. They really are part of the family and often have more personality than some humans you meet! So sorry for your loss.

Again thanks for all the messages guys, genuinely helped.
I know it's a bit wussy, and soft arsed, but been a bad day.
But have to keep things in perspective, it's inevitable with a dog or any pet, and there are a lot of people out there facing up to, loss of loved ones and dark days before them, so my thoughts go out to all those that are going through a bad time, and I hope and wish they have family and friends around to help them through.
I'm lucky, I have that and still have my other dog, but he's a Mums boy

And it's great to know there are guys like you around, thanks again, genuinely really appreciate the messages.
