Baggie's and mailer's galore - auction.

Paul Whitehair that is running the auction just posted a link on FB!! The cat is truly out of the bag now!!

Well it seems like there are probably more people on here who think these auctions should be mentioned before they happen. I do wonder how many of these people are actually going to bid on them and maybe if it was an auction that they had interest in then they might feel a bit differently about doing it?

For me I'm going to continue not mentioning them until after they've happened as it's something that I believe in ( I'm also with Joe on not buying anything from them so it's not like I'm trying to keep things quiet for myself). I'm still happy to mention an ebay listing with a BIN if I think the price is good in the hope that a member here may benefit from it and also outing the odd one that has some ridiculous starting bid on it and the seller is clearly trying it on.

Each to their own though, as long as there aren't any rules against this type of thing then what ever you feel is the right thing to do for yourself is up to the individual.

I'm personally against outing auctions but if others believe they need to do so then that's their prerogative.

Can I suggest this as I've done it on several occasions as have others done it for me, if you see something that may be of interest to someone then send them a link via PM. If it Gives them a chance at getting something they may have been after for ages even better.

i agree as well as it only bumps the price up , its the same same with that other auction house in the uk which let people take photos of the lots knowing all too well that they are going to be posted on various internet forums ....then we all complain when the prices they achieve go through the roof and that most of us cant afford them :(

Maybe we should ban all further outings of auctions then including Vectis and any others... all or nothing situation.

I personally do not mind the auctions being posted as I like to see whats available in case I miss them myself, I just think its pointless because none of these auctions will go under the radar but if the majority want it then maybe Edd will put a ban on it.

Maybe put it to a vote..?

It is an area that probably could do with some clarification and a vote would be one way to see what the general feeling is. I know I'll continue to carry on the way I do with this matter but if it's what the majority want then it's the fairest way to go.

I'm not sure how Ed or the other mods feel about having things like this go to vote but I'm sure they will put their heads together and decide which way they want to take this matter forward. Whatever the outcome though it would be good to get a final word on this so that nobody gets upset in the future.

I concur.
I'd rather folk didn't out auctions, IMO its mostly done by folk just wanting to increase their forum postings count.

What if it's your items that are being sold through an auction house,is it frowned upon to start a thread to promote that particular sale ?

the only time an auction shouldnt be outed is when its a mislisted item that somebody is watching and its clear thats the case (sta wrz figa Leya). But the auction in question is on ebay and being publicised all over the place. To think thats not going to be public knowledge... slightly crazy

To digress a little from outing or not. Anyone worked out how to bid on items? Is it an online auction, is it also live so people can bid from the floor? I have never come across this format on eBay before! :D

It looks like you have to sign up or contact the auction house through ebay to bid. That's as best I can work it out but as I haven't placed a bid it's hard to know for sure.

Oh and I know everything seems to get posted on all the various social media out there but there are still some people who don't check all of these ways of looking at things so I'm sure not everyone would know about every listing there is out there. I for one only look at ebay and am part of this forum so there's plenty I'm missing out on ( probably like many others out there), but don't personally feel I want to spend any more time than I already do online.

Anyone watching this auction? Some prices are insane. Some of the carded and boxed diecasts went cheap enough though.

Something odd with Lot 207 (I think it was): A production folder from the Ewoks cartoon. Looked to have some acetates in it. The estimate was $500. Went up to about $1,300 and was then shown as "unsold". Little else had reserves, let alone reserves of nearly 3 x the estimate.

Update: Brilliant! The only mailer so far that has failed to reach it's estimate was the 4 x Ewok one

I would've put bids on couple of things if it had been a regular ebay auction but didn't understand the weird format and it happened late at night so fark it. Anyone have any completed prices? Always interesting to see.
