If those guys had actually tried to look like the Jackson 5 there wouldn't be quite the same issue. It's the fact they blacked up - boot polish just on the faces and a golly wigs.

All they were missing is big white paint around the eyes and mouth, it belongs in the past IMO and a lot of other folk too. You obviously think it's fine and that's your issue.

the michael jackson guy actually made a decent effort - that was a piss take about Michael himself. IMO the other guys are saying 'all the black people in the world look funny', which is why blacking up started.

Josh I don't think you can compare a lifestyle choice (chavs for example) to a persons race, I mean, wearing tracksuits and being called names because you benefit from the government by having loads of kids, smoking weed and not working is not the same as being insulted because of the colour of your skin.

I don't think in this particular case that any malice was intended but spoons has a point, blacking up has a firm foot stuck in a racist mindset.

Anyway, these guys were just having a laugh in my opinion, I mean I am sure everyone here has had a pop at some minority (or majority!) at one time or another, even calling someone a fat ****ing ginger kid or imitating your local indian shop worker with your mates in the pub but you definitely can't compare taking the piss out of someone for what they are as opposed to what they choose to be.

OOPs! Yeah in England the term "Chav" doesn't describe immigrants or foreign people getting benefits, its a term to describe little bastards like this :

Basically the yobs and youth delinquents that hang around bus stops spitting on old people ! Gold chains, tracksuits etc

I did wonder what you were on about josh and i freely admit that i discriminate against chav's - folk who live in my street off my taxes, and never try and get a job. They can be black, white, english or australian but they are work shy. My discrimination is based on an opinion of their lifestyle rather than colour of skin

BTW good point about Zimbabwe James, I'm really just talking about white northern and western europeans - although that should really include their colonies too

I am glad we all had a group hug I didn't start this thread for a racial conflict. I got heaps in primary school for not being a whitey. It didn't get better in highschool until I learnt I kick like a mule and my elbows are sharp :wink: In Australia there is no problem with dressing up like an oriental asian or an italian market gardener and telling jokes, so I didn't quite understand why there was such a fuss over making fun of the jackson 5. We ALL told really bad jokes about Michael's death? Anyway uneducated prejudice is what will destroy our species. Comedy even in really bad taste can be funny

Over here we call them "Wiggers"....and yes...Americans feel the need to be politically correct all the time now...thats what all the fuss was about...I personally could give a **** less....just fix the economy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
