Hey guys
Apologies for this slightly odd request but I know there are a few artistically talented members out there.
I am look for someone to work on some illustrations for a series of children's books I have written (and there is a slight SW theme here so not totally off topic).
Over the last year or so I have been writing stories to read to my daughter and for her to pick up and start reading herself (She is 5 and just learnt to read) and having invested so much time in this I am thinking of ways to give the stories life outside of my family.
Right now I am sorting out a freelance editor (I work for an academic publishing company, so not hard, more a question of finding the right one than anything) to work on the technical side of the book, grammar, spelling etc. and then from there I want to see where things go.
In all likelihood I will create an EBook through my work contacts and use that as a tool to try and land a print publisher and sell a few copies through low impact marketing, but that is getting ahead of myself a little.
For now as a minimum I need someone the help create a book cover I can use, which I want to be an homage to the 1977 UK Quad poster for SW, but using the characters, locations and vehicles from my stories in place of the SW ones. But ideally I am looking for a partner who is willing to get involved and produce the black and white illustrations that are needed throughout.
If anyone is interested, or knows of anyone who might be then drop me a PM and I can share more details and maybe the draft copy as it stands so people can get an idea of what I am after. But I am aware that to create any images takes time and that is really something.
Not really expecting a response but, don't ask don't get as my old mum used to say
Oh and the SW theme doesn't end with my desire to rift on the poster, there are around a dozen references in the book with several characters taking their names from the SW universe, also the Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, several Shakespeare plays and Game of Thrones all have nods – I am a geek after all.
