Was Star Wars really the top selling toy in the UK in 1977? I think this may be just a bit of lazy research by Argos to induce a bit of nostalgia in time for Christmas (Otherwise I'm sure Star Wars would have been number 1 from 78-83 (I remember the news stories on Cabbage Patch kids so will let them have 1984)

They weren't even out in 1977, so definitely some dogshit research!

Did the original source say UK? Might be US source and utilised poetic licence?
However surely the reason for early bird was because Kenner was not ready in 1977?
Suspect data.

Apparently they are trying to promote the Argos Toy Exhibition at Tottenham Court Road. So I guess they are trying to say as many toys as possible to get interest.

Shame its all lies!
