some superb pics there alex!

I have been to Lan Tau island and Hong Kong too!

Thanks.

Jealous of your Tian Tan Buddha one - the couple of times I was there it was so foggy you could hardly see the thing!

i have just started with photography. i always wanted to take fantastic pictures, and felt a twat with my little 3.2 mpix camera at zoo's when people came up with an auto focusing lense  . so last month i bought a sony 200 with a 18 - 70mm lense. 10.2 megapixels. i only got a cf card saturday so have only had a couple of days to play but am very pleased with the results. any tips would be welcome, and advice on the best beginners guide or magazine would be great too.
thanks

ISO refers to the "speed" of the film - when we used to use that!

basically, the lower the number the more light needed for a good exposure but also the better the quality and less "noise", high ISO's are useful for low light conditions but will be grainier or have more "noise"

You used to have to use different films in the past to achieve the same thing that you can now with just a click or a press of a button, as in you would have to buy 100 ISO film or 1600 ISO film.

so ISO64 is better than higher for macros under X2 500w halogens then..

i kinda got it right then :)

Wouldnt bother with magazines mate, they are over priced and mainly full of adverts or reviews of things that us mortals cant afford!

I dont have this book but it seems pretty good from the reviews:
