Jealous of your Tian Tan Buddha one - the couple of times I was there it was so foggy you could hardly see the thing!

basically, the lower the number the more light needed for a good exposure but also the better the quality and less "noise", high ISO's are useful for low light conditions but will be grainier or have more "noise"
You used to have to use different films in the past to achieve the same thing that you can now with just a click or a press of a button, as in you would have to buy 100 ISO film or 1600 ISO film.

It was late July when we went and about 95% in the centre of Hong Kong!
