I am going to buy a 40" tv after crimbo and i am just wondering if anyone has any recomendations. Its allways better to here from someone who has one than what a shop keeper will tell you. I have my eye on a 40" samsung lcd one. Its Ã'£1395 in the shops and i have found it for Ã'£845 online. What a saving. But if anyone has any recomendations or horror storys let me know. I dont want to spunk a grand on a shite tv. Oh yeah its going to be used for x-box and sky hd.

Sorry i don't have a 40" but do have a 32" Samsung and i am very pleased with it so far, and as for Ã'£800+ that don't sound too bad actually!!

Like Jukesy, I have a 32" Samsung. Gotta say if the tv you have at the minute is a normal glass front projection, then getting an LCD tv is going to take a bit of getting used to.

I got mine in July and still don't know if I like it - hehe.

From certain angles the colours fade out, so you really have to watch it straight on for best results. Some older programmes don't look good on it -they appear a bit grainy.

DVDs are excellent on it. I don't have SKY HD (don't think its worth the money at the minute), but I have an x-box 360 wired up to it on HD -thats neat.

One other thing - were my tv is we had a limited space to put it in, so I was at the shop with the measuring tape. These tvs can decive the eye when seeing them in the shops as you can't really judge size compared to what it will be in your living room. As much as I love the 32 inch, I'm pissed of cause I could have got a 40 inch in there

I've still got my old 28" tv  but as soon as it breaks down I'm going to get the biggest one possible !!! :p

I have a 4.5 ft brick chimney breast to mount it on so i know i have plenty of room. I wanted a 46" but according to the missis
that will look stupid
I personally dont see there would be that much difference but its easyer to just agree. :D

Finally got it. It is a 40" sony which i managed to pick up allmost half price in the january sales. :D It was a bit of a bitch fitting it to the chimney breast but it looks good.
Normal tv takes a bit of getting used to but dvds look fantastic.
I recomend getting one.
As for veiwing angle problems, Its not an issue with a sony. :D
