I have a few items on evil bay ATM and have a querry from a potential buyer asking if I'll ship to Singapore and mark it down at a lower value and cap the insurance at that level, to help him avoid VAT charges. He says he will accept all liabilities, but I know what PP will say to that if there are any problems/charge backs/claims.

Question is, has anyone ever dealt with a Singaporean buyer before? Any problems etc!?

What are your chances of a claim if you took it outside of ebay?

If he wants the item that bad and you are happy enough doing what he has requested with regard to the value being marked down then perhaps dealing outside of the ebay buyer safety net is the way to go..

I would ask if he is registered on any forums first and try to find out if he is "known"

It's not the fact he's Singaporean, it's the fact he's fecking miles away and I don't know him from Adam!

ive sold on ebay to a guy from the phillipines, not signapore but along the same lines i think, he asked the same thing to put a lower value of the customs form $2 in fact, the value was about £40 or so, got there no prob, guess you should ask what the others have mentioned is he on a forum etc?

I've bought and sold to folk in Singapore a few times - I think Violentmind (or similar) on RS is from there.

But, if you don't know them don't do a deal on insurance as you are the one who will lose out

Weas mate I have it sounds like it could be the same guy who bought an ESB graded Fett from me

I'll try and find the link in my feedback and see if it's the same guy.

BTW the transaction went fine and the item arrived safe and sound. However I was shittin a brick for a while as I was checking the Royal Mail site for tracking updates and it kept stating'Your item has been passed overseas to be delivered in FRANCE!!!'

LOL nearly all the people you sell on eBay too are probably miles away and you don't know from Adam either. The fact he is Singaporean or it is going there should not be an issue.

* I just don't see this as any different than sending stuff to the UK when you guys want it marked down etc.
Now if you were asking what the Singaporean postal service was like that would be different.

True! I've just heard a few stories about people sending stuff to the Far East and getting taken for a ride. Yeah, I've heard the same about sales in the UK/Europe/US as well. It's not the issue of marking the value down, I've asked sellers to do it myself. It's more the fact I've never heard of the guy before and I thought I'd see if any of you guys had.
He seems to be a fairly stand up guy (he says hoping he doesn't regret saying that in 3 weeks) so we'll see.

Cheers anyways guys!

Personally i would only use a courier like fedex or dhl with PROPER tracking information, and i wouldnt mark the value down as your taking all the risks.

I do ask people to mark down for me and i promise i will take the hit if it gets damaged, im true to my work but you dont know if he will be.

Hi all,

Just thought to bump up this old thread to introduce myself as I just chanced upon this thread talking about me:)

My name is Mark Yeo and I am from Singapore. My eBay ID is marky024yeo.

I am on Rebelscum more often and my RS ID is Mark_Yeo.

It is true that when I make inquiries on and/or do transactions and deals, I do have the following specific shipping requests:-

1. Package to be sent with tracking;
2. Package to be marked as a "gift"
3. If the value is in excess of GBP 190, to have the package plus cost of shipping capped at GBP 190; and
4. Insurance is optional if at no additional cost and if capped at GBP 190.

Guys who have dealt with me before would see this familiar request from me. The reason for this shipping request is that shipment of items into Singapore which are declared as a gift and for under SGD 400 (about GBP 190) is exempt from 7% VAT.

Where there is insurance coverage that exceeds GBP 190, it usually means that the declared value would then have to exceed GBP 190. For this reason, I do ask that there be no or only limited insurance coverage. Whenever I make such a request, I do say that I will be responsible for any loss or damage to the package in the post. I am good to my word on this and luckily, I have not had any trouble from packages sent from the UK to Singapore. Singapore postal system is pretty solid in this regard.

Cheers,

Mark

Hey Mark Welcome to the Forum :)

Would love to see a limelight of your POTF run on here mate  :)

Hi, thanks for the welcome.

Had joined earlier but did not do any posts for a while.

Sure, I would be happy :D to bring up the limelight on my almost complete POTF run here as well.

By the way, I am thinking of changing my user id from Myeo to Mark_Yeo so there is some consistency between the forums. Tried finding a way to do it on the control panel but I don't seem to be able to do so. Any help will be greatly appreciated ...

Cheers, mate

Mark

Hey Mark glad you found your way over here.

I think you need to speak to Edd about changing your name.

Actually...he was already a member here when you posted this thread

ive dealt with quite a few from there, no problems at all, if this guy is asking you to shirk the value then make him pay you via bank transfer, cant be reversed.
