Hi

We're supposed to be going to Barcelona on Saturday for five days but my Mrs has slipped a disc and is completely knackered for going away as far as I can see.

We now have three options:

1. just not go

2. the hotel is non-refundable but Ryan Air say they refund flight tickets on a case-by-case basis. They would need a sick note, which my wife can get. So we could try that.

3. see if names can be changed on the tickets and let the kids' dad take them instead of us. At least that way they don't lose out.

For me I would just not go rather than risk a **** time for all. The wife can just about get around the house but can't drive or do anything strenuous. She's been signed off work for two weeks.

I like options two or three best but are either likely?

No insurance and I wouldn't go on my own, certainly not just me and the kids.

To be honest I'm not arsed either way. I could take or leave this holiday. Not a family holiday type. The wife will be gutted if we can't go though.

Surely it's up to your wife.

If she feels she can go, then obviously go. If she has doubts then don't go. There is nothing worse than being abroad and suffering from ill health - you will all just want to get back on the first plane home and the kids won't enjoy themselves if they see their Mum in constant pain.

Well we didn't go in the end. Luckily we did have some travel insurance though and it look like they will pay us out. Phew! Wife's back is just too bad. I don't even think she'd have made it through the airport

So now a week at home. Better than working i guess :|
