Anyone been to Barcelona recently (or know the place)

Evening chaps,

Im mid way through organising my mates stag weekend. We are off to Barca 31st July to 3rd August. Im looking for some tips of where to go and what to do, or any other help you might be able to give me. We are all around 35, so Im thinking of organising a wine and cheese/tapas tour for one day and a tour of camp you and the museum on the second day.

Any advice greatly received.

My mate just been and says it awesome but riddled with crime.

A friend of his was talking on his mobile and a kid ran up behind him, pushed him over and ran off. Another kid then grabbed his mobile and ran off too. This was in a busy place and there was a big group of them. They have no fear and have probably gangs watching for trouble.

Did a stag there a few years back. Caught a game at the barca stadium and went drinking down the ramblers.

I have travelled to a lot of European cities.
Barcelona is very nice but it's rife with pick pocketing. A friend of mine had his wallet nicked. I know it can happen anywhere but we just felt like targets more than anywhere else, and that includes Amsterdam.
Just be careful. Your itinerary sounds good though.

Any worries for you there Jason?

One potential issue is I wanted to do fancy dress. I think there could be an issu with entry to places and secondly making ourselves a bit of a target. Did you do any fancy dress Jason.

The theme would be wwf/wwe/generic luchadors

Just buy a 2 day ticket (yes really a 2 day ticket as you need those days to see everything) for the Hop on /hop off bus, and take a tour true the city and visit everything you like to see at the stops.
go enjoy the beach area aswell whilst your there.

Never done a stag with fancy dress. Did one with matching t-shirts in Amsterdam once.

Beach is nice, we went there too.

Read this should fill you in on all you need to know. I've been once it truly is a great city. Watch out for the pickpockets though especially if you are pissed up on Las Ramblas

Going next month. Not really a family holiday person but Barcelona seems ok. City breaks are more my thing so should be ok.

When i went to Barca, albeit it many moons ago, the main thing everyone told me was how common place thieving is wether that be wallet from the pocket or cameras around the neck!
I must say i had no problems whatsoever and the same people are giving me the same warnings about my upcoming hols to Benidorm!
Maybe they just hate the Spanish? Anyways, make sure you goto the Nou Kamp. I did the tour 1 day and watched them play Valencia the next. Awesome!
