Anybody else self isolating?

It's just unbelievable really, I just stopped today while home schooling the kids and asked myself if this is actually happening. The long term damage that is being done to the worlds economy's is pretty catastrophic, governments are effectively printing money.

The sooner we can get it under control the better and the only way to do that is stay at home which for most people is a given, but as ever the minority seem to have their own rules.

We could be in lock down like this for months I understand?

Totally agree, lets hope everyone learns from this but most of them won't they are to bloody stubborn.

It doesn't seem to be THAT prevalent.

I totally get this perception. I feel this can only be reviewed in a couple months time. The difference between mitigated action and no action is massive. We are way behind on tests, the incubation period can be 5 days with deaths happening 15-20 days after infection.

I think comparing Italy is a good way of giving a rough estimate of our future as we are roughly 2 weeks behind.

I also think America is going to be hit really bad as their government don't seem to take it seriously.

At the moment Covid19 seems to being doing more harm to vulnerable who need care and cant get it. That looks like it will change dramatically soon.

I hope people don't take risks that they will regret. Taiwan shut down in January and they have mitigated the problem to a huge degree. We are still giving confusing messages about travelling to work and parks.

I agree, and I also think you are spot on regarding America. The Trump administration (OK, mainly Trump himself), doesn't seem to have acted either quickly or effectively. One estimate I saw is that roughly 96 million Americans might end up getting Covid19, and with a 2% mortality rate, that's almost 2 million deaths

Thet's be honest though, regardless of how quickly they (Trump) would of reacted how many would of taken it seriously? This past week/end would be a fine example, it seems a lot are treating it as a complete jolly, as serious as it is 1000s still flocked to the coast causing havoc all over. I did my normal run this morning, and decided to make my return home from work another excuse for a jog and I see countless people just milling about, people that shouldn't be....

I fear peoples stupidity, greed and selfishness more than anything. Humanity is its worse own enemy :?

To everyone here that is staying in and at home, thank you and ill see you on the other side. 8)

Trump is thinking purely of his re-election chances. He doesn't quite seem to grasp that loads of people dying needlessly from a disease is probably not going to do him any favours. He just sees stock markets down and Unemployment figures up. Plus, as you may have noticed, he is a moron.

As regards the prevalence over here, I guess part of the problem is the lack of testing and the fact some people who are infected are totally asymptomatic, they have no symptoms or illness at all. Obviously we also have the idiots who have a slight sore throat and then decide they have had it snd tell the world how awful it was.

When did this happen?!

Seriously though, I do fear for the final US death toll, which as a percentage of their population could far exceed ours.

As for the UK, the message seems to be broadly being received and heeded where I live, as the streets are mostly empty, with very few pedestrians or vehicles moving. There are the inevitable few idiots (usually youths) that flout the rules, like the utter dickhead on his pushbike that swept at speed onto a main road in front of me this evening, without looking or a moment's concern for his or anyone else's safety, and then proceeded to pull a wheelie down the middle of the road as I returned from a trip to the pharmacy after work. I resisted the urge to swing into him as I drove past, but I was sorely tempted...

Many happy returns anyway. It sucks being trapped indoors, but I hope you still get some nice presents.

The bell-end quotient seems to be pretty high round by us. We've had neighbours across the road (who both live in different houses) working on a car together, literally heads under the bonnet at the same time. My wife was in a queue at the Pharmacy talking to someone who was looking forward to a family barbeque this weekend. She also overheard someone talking about a fancy dress part they're going to this weekend. All the time my wife is stressing out massively about her 82 year old mother who suffers from COPD and is under a 12 week lockdown.

If only COVID-19 specifically targeted the incurably stupid.

'It's a big eye opener all of this, isn't it

We are finally realising money has no value.

Your amazing job is no longer an amazing job, your expensive clothes now have no worth and no one gives a **** how you look anymore.

Your big house is just 4 empty walls like everyone else's.

Your nice car is running on 4 tyres, the same as everyone else's.

We are finally seeing who the important people are, the ones who make a difference to our lives and are doing the crucial jobs we need.

Shop workers ✔️
Care workers ✔️
NHS staff ✔️
Emergency services ✔️
Farmers ✔️
Teachers ✔️
Lorry drivers/delivery people ✔️
Cleaners ✔️
Refuse workers ✔️

These people are the ones who keep our country ticking over, the core of our daily lives, the people who regularly go unnoticed and are often frowned upon but keep working hard, generally on a low income.
People constantly look down on them and gloat that they earn more money than them.

But what worth does your money have now?
How secure is your job in the real world when we take a step back to reality?

I'm proud of all of these people, they don't earn enough for what they do, and they're never appreciated for what they contribute.

Be kind to them, thank them, go out your way to tell them what an amazing job they're doing.

Could you imagine how **** this would be without them??

Be thankful, I'll be happy to buy them all a drink if we come out the other side'

Brilliant post

Hopefully we will all come out of this better people and society will improve, less about materialism, worth and possessions more about appreciating the things we take for granted

Massive thanks to the NHS workers who are out here, on the front line for us all...we owe them a massive debt of gratitude

We'd lose tens of millions of people in Britain alone.

Indeed we would but meh

The thing is all those retards out there get to vote. They are too dumb to do even the most basic common sense thing to try and limit their own chances of getting infected but we let them decide who runs the country?!

I have said for years anyone who wants to vote should be subjected to an IQ test. For example if you can't name the bloody PM, then piss off. Those who don't self isolate, or those who think a family BBQ is an acceptable reason to break quarantine, jog on.

I've decided to sought through my sons Lego and build all the sets as it annoys me how he doesen't really get the most out of it. It's like he has a new toy every time I complete a set. Flipping tedious though!
