Anybody else self isolating?

I've had a sore throat for a week, saw some little marks in there and a small lump, (the lump has almost gone now) wasn't worried that it was covid 19 but was worried about it being something else so went to the denist and he said it's a viral mouth infection, the word viral just scares me now, I wouldn't of cared about a viral throat infection not that long ago. I don't have a temperature but still have my cough from December but that has started getting better in the last week or two.

Really worried about these growing numbers and that the kids don't seem to care about it and are just carrying on as normal.

I think we are all more mindful now of ailments and worrying what the symptoms mean, where in the past we wouldn't have been so worried. The only thing we can do is follow advice and try to take all precautions we can, keep ourselves safe and think about others.
It all starts with us as an individual doing the right things and keeping safe, if we all do that then it has to be a good thing.
Keep safe mate

I'm still working as I'm a key worker delivering food for an commercial greengrocer. My business is on its knees at the moment as all our customers are shut, most of our business is restaurants, pubs, cafe's, schools, hotels. We are only delivering to the care homes and hospitals we have on our books and some schools. Our orders are 90% down. We've had to take a 50% wage cut just to help the business last through this horrendous time.

My wife is a key worker as well in a school.

Keep safe everyone out there.

Is there not an option to deliver to houses rather than businesses? I would have thought an ad on Facebook and or company website with a link to prices and an insistence on payment made online in advance and delivery 'left on the door step' no signature required etc. should get more business. Most grocers I have heard of have all their delivery slots booked up for weeks.

That's really tough Chris. Hope you find a solution in these tough times - it's a nightmare for so many small businesses and self employed workers.

My daughter has has a heavy cold and cough since Thursday and we have now taken the decision to self-isolate as I have started to get what she has. TBH it's no different to the stuff she always gets (just a heavy cold and earache) but you can't be too careful these days.

We're still getting out for walks keeping away from other folk, just not going to shops to buy groceries. My wife is working from home and I'm now schooling Freya. My small design business is just on hold for now. I haven't really worked much for the past couple of years because of my back anyway.

Stay safe.

Incredibly tough times at the moment, so much uncertainty out there. Keep the faith everyone. Best wishes.

I've just been visiting some of the pubs on my policing team area, speaking to managers about security. I've basically told them to empty the premises of stock and film the place empty so it can go on social media. Potentially would be thieves will be put off. But one manager was telling me they had to lay most staff off. The next day they were approached by Tesco and all given jobs. Less than 24 hours. Quite an unexpected side effect of this thing.

I'm still here :) haven't shaken off the cold yet, I don't think it's coronavirus but the lack of testing is not helping, would be nice to know. I'm staying in as much as possible, just getting a bit of excercise by walking in the countryside.

Good news edd_jedi .
Stay well everyone.

Well the lockdown announced yesterday is going well. I took my 2 year old son out for some exercise in the countryside as we don't have a garden, I tried to think of the remotest place locally and I still felt bad about it. Got there and there were families of 4+ having ****ing picnics all over the fields! How stupid and selfish are these people, we're trying to keep two toddlers occupied in a 1.5 bedroom flat with no outside space, and these morons who probably all have gardens are going out for family picnics

I completely get the irony of this blazing sunshine the minute we go into lockdown following months of rain, but come on people this is literally life and death.

We aren't going anywhere! if I have to go to the shops then I'm going to go late and probably wear my 0.3 micron mask, even if I do look stupid.

We had to open up to the public this morning for parcel collections. We had loads through the door. They took huge offence when I asked them if they'd seen the broadcast by Boris? People just do not seem to care.

We are in a similar position. Three of us in a third floor flat and a toddler who will go mad soon. We took him out to the park today but it was pretty quiet. A few ppl out walking and a couple of others out with buggies. Everyone keeping their distance though. TBF it may be a mentality thing, people over here over the age of 40 can still remember having social liberties curtailed when the Troubles were on.
Or it could just be my trip to the park was well timed/yours was badly timed.
Time will tell.

I've been taking the kids to the local woods for a few days and they have both been deserted, same routine today and there were 10-15 people doing the same thing. Utterly bizarre but at least most of them were dog walkers, no picnics going on

Has anyone had it yet?

Just interested. So far I don't know anyone who has. A friend says his tenant has it, but that is the only case I have heard of. It doesn't seem to be THAT prevalent. Though I do understand why we are on lock down and fully support the decision and sure as **** don't want it.
I just don't know anyone who has had it.

My brother in laws wife thinks she has as she has a temperature and feels under the weather but who knows if people aren't being tested

That's the point Carl, without the tests being available no one can be sure...
It's not as if this has crept up on us...

It's just unbelievable really, I just stopped today while home schooling the kids and asked myself if this is actually happening. The long term damage that is being done to the worlds economy's is pretty catastrophic, governments are effectively printing money.

The sooner we can get it under control the better and the only way to do that is stay at home which for most people is a given, but as ever the minority seem to have their own rules.

We could be in lock down like this for months I understand?

I totally get this perception. I feel this can only be reviewed in a couple months time. The difference between mitigated action and no action is massive. We are way behind on tests, the incubation period can be 5 days with deaths happening 15-20 days after infection.

I think comparing Italy is a good way of giving a rough estimate of our future as we are roughly 2 weeks behind.

I also think America is going to be hit really bad as their government don't seem to take it seriously.

At the moment Covid19 seems to being doing more harm to vulnerable who need care and cant get it. That looks like it will change dramatically soon.

I hope people don't take risks that they will regret. Taiwan shut down in January and they have mitigated the problem to a huge degree. We are still giving confusing messages about travelling to work and parks.
