Anybody else now been charged for sending a Paypal Gift?

If its from your bank account, I don't think it cost anything, but a credit card is about 4%, I think?

I think you get charged when you don't have money actually in your paypal account. I know i've been charged many times which is why people state in their sales "payment by paypal and you pay fees"

Check.your email inbox today, have you had a mail from paypal??? I have.

They try and confuse you by making it a million words long but there is a section about personal payments,ie gifts. I am sure the charges will be in the small print somewhere
Tossers!!!

I just tried it to see if i would get charged for a "gift" with money in my account and i would not.

As far as I'm aware if your sending money to someone as a gift in the UK there is no charge. If your sending to someone in another country you are charged 1% I think. I've sent money to the US twice and to Tundra who is in Norway recently and was charged for all 3. Sent money to Iain and Frank with no charge.

Yeah, I always get charged 1%, when I send it as a gift.

You get charged when there's a different currency involved.

You get charged a second time with appalling exchange rates too!! I normally google "what's 100$ in uk pounds" answer is say £62. Then you send someone 100$ and paypal round it up to £65. The must make a packet on it.

Still though, 99% of the time I must say I have had great service from PP... Aside from when they accused me of money laundering  Tossers

Hey Guys! Thanks for all the responses. Was sending it to someone in Sweden. So was probably charged 1 per cent. Never knew or noticed that before! I have recieved a email today too Lee

I'm a bit late on this one, but i too have also been charged about 50p recently.
My payment was sent to Tundra in Norway, so i guess that the thoughts here are spot on i.e if a different currency is involved a small admin fee is charged. Fair doos i suppose.

But still, Tundra proved to be such a good guy, the 50p was definitely worthwhile
