when i was selling my spare, guess who wanted to buy it ?

Who? Oh and I only mentioned it because I remember seeing the repro listing on TIG and thought this one seemed quite clear (although I'm sure there are a few clear ones out there, maybe?)

The vintage one I sold was clear, I sold the whole DS for £100 on RS just after xmas.

Pretty hard to find a clear one these days, just look at what this one went for -

Always nice to see a clear DS canopy 8)
My mate owns one of the best if not best shop stock Palitoy Death Stars out there and his has an orange canopy!!!

The usual rule on these canopies is that if it's yellow it's real and original....if it's clear I don't touch them.

No known repro's of this to my knowledge......but anything is possible.

I too don't know of or have any leads to the manufacture of any repros out there, just all original canopys I have seen have got minor to major yellowing/oranging and as said that includes shop stock examples!

It's a bit like the MOC POTF pieces, 95% of those have tinged to heavy yellowed bubbles.

I'd love for a shop stock example to turn up with both bags factory sealed and there to be a lovely crystal clear canopy in the smaller bag :D But where you going to find that :?: My mates example has the big bag still factory sealed but the factory tape dried up on smaller bag and alas it is open. If anyone has a contents sealed example with a clear canopy we would love to see it I'm sure :)

Repros were made and sold in the early 1990s, they were sold by a guy who had a shop on Mansfield Road, Nottingham (name of shop escapes me) he also sold lots of repro weapons at the time and advertised them in Model and Collectors Mart.

That's interesting hear, it makes you wonder how many have made it into peoples collections without their knowledge. They look to be quite hard to spot unless you have a real one next to it and I also wonder if they yellow over time? Maybe someone will have a clear original in an unopened bag like PalitoyJunky asked.

Thanks for the info :D

I've remembered....the shop was called Star Toys

http://www.antiques-directory.co.uk/directory/england/nottinghamshire/nottingham/star-toys-2-collectables.aspx

I don't think the repros yellow with age, well maybe slightly but nothing like the yellowing of genuine/original ones.
