Hi Guys. Gonna try here too. I have tried RS, TIG and the Movie Poster Forum - Nothing really. Managed to find out that Reveille was a British Newspaper which went bust in 79. Thats it. Any Idea about value or has anyone ever seen one before. I won it from an auction last week and its currently en route.

Did you check out the Wiki page on the paper Liam? It had some information on what the Reveille was publishing in the 70's:

During the 1960s and 1970s it became known as Reveille Magazine and would publish large double-page pop posters and also feature tasteful glamour models.

So this would have been a promotional poster for SW in the Reveille Mag, it looks like it was a glossy/tabloid kind of magazine in the 70's covering stuff like music, film etc. The only thing Star Wars related that I found that appeared in Reveille was this picture from a Peter Cushing interview, apparently this was in the run up to Star Wars being released.

I'd hazard a guess based on 10 minutes googling that this isn't something that comes up at all on the market so probably pretty rare mate! As for value though, really no idea, have you had much luck on RS? The poster guys there would probably be interested in buying it (if it was for sale) but I think Newspaper/Magazine freebie posters are not as collectible as actual movie posters.

Really awesome poster though, I would keep it if I were you! Probably the only one you will ever see.

Thanks for your Help Joe! Its very much appriecated. I am gonna wait till I have it in hand and make sure its legit and take it from there. :)

It should detract from the poster itself tho.
Well I did a little more research and was told this -

What you have is an ad poster, that would have been seen at a newspaper stand selling Reveille newspaper. It was to entice buyers to read about the new Star Wars film in '77. Quite a neat promotional item to find from the now defunct newspaper. What would really be cool is to also find the issue that contained the Star Wars article.

The thing is tho I cant find a article like this that appeared in the Reiveille newspaper anywhere. :?

*UPDATE8

After what feels like an eternity I eventually have this poster in a new glass frame.

Here it is -

Can anyone shed any more light on this piece?

Still cant find anything about this on the web. Mine is the only one out there it seems

Can anyone recommend anywhere where I can get this apparaised. I have tried a few movie posters sites none of them had seen one before.

If anyone finds a copy of a reveille newspaper with star wars in it anywhere please let me know!!!

Liam

Not much on the poster, like nothing, anywhere, but it is nice and deserves to be on a wall somewhere.
But this article gives you a bit of background info on the magazine and its star writer from back in the day - http://rosemarytimperley.tripod.com/articles.htm

If you are looking for the actual edition I found these guys that sell reveille back issues http://www.tilleysvintagemagazines.com/source/index.php?menuchoice=homepage, nothing from 1977 but a lot so they might be a good source of info for further research?

As for poster value, to be honest, no idea. As mentioned I doubt it will be in the same category as a studio poster but a rare poster from a defunct and quite popular magazine from 77 in good condition...

Enjoy it.

Hey Matt. :) Thanks for the detailed response mate. I know you are the guy in the know on here when it comes to posters 8)
