antique road show tonight 8 pm bbc1

40-50K  mentioning no names a big collector told me they paid 45K in cash and trade for an actual Jedi Stormie helmet film prop so maybe that valuation is a little conservative for a TIE helmet from SW although a Stormie example is far more iconic however far less TIE helmets made  :!:

Did you notice they didnt have a specific "expert" for it? Thought they would have had a movie prop expert on there :?

I always doubt what they say on programmes like this as they seem to be 'experts' on everything.

Although they must do some research and speak to specialists before the show is recorded. Especially with something like this.

Looked at the article link Iain posted, nice item!!

Reckon Grant would love that is his TFP focus.

He reckons he paid 'a few thousand for it a few years ago'.......surely the person who worked on the film would have had it checked out before selling?

Who knows....maybe Toni is moving into replica props now too!

When he said a phew thousand I didn't get the impression he ment 2K though. More like thousands. :?

"Are you a Star Wars geek"

Correct answer was

"No, you ****ing whore, I am a serious collector of movie props and this is worth more than all those ****ing pocket watches or pictures of the titanic. If you knock it again I'm going to punch you in the face"

They didn't have a clue about its value.

I found that a bit strange as well, paying a few thousand a few years ago.

Shades of Toyhunter :?

Great to see though, iconic piece, I'm sure Grant will chime in.

guess that was the out-take they never showed

Interesting to see that piece, still in fairly good condition too. He said twelve were made for a New Hope so I'm not suprised by the value. I wonder how many survived and are known to be in private collections or at Lucasfilm?

She was being a bit of a knob, calling him a geek and that, almost mocking him and the helmet as though it was silly and not a real antique.

I bet that's not the first big black helmet she's ever seen...! :|

Just so you guys know, this guy is the owner of the Prop store of London.

anybody see this and the value! I found it funny that around 40 pocket
watches 2 paintings and some pearl earings couldn't match it for price
anyone agree!?

So basically he went on the antiques roadshow to show off...he knew what it was worth if he's the owner of propstore...

Well if he didn't plug his business during the show then I guess he just did it for a laugh.
