The gang at home got back from shopping the other day and there was something familiar visible through the distirtion of one of the Toys R Us bags...

It looked like a boxed Early Bird Set.... Low and behold it was, well almost.

It was this Angry Bird set with the packaging based on the Early Bird set, quite clever I thought and shows the thought that goes into some of these products (well the thought of tricking people into buying them through nostalgia as well as ripping off kids). But either way I was mildly impresses, so impressed I thought I would share it on here. It even has a pic of the early bird set on the back of the box.

The set comes with the characters you would expect from the EB set plus a Vader and Stormie with a bit of plastic to destroy with your catapult, good fun to play but a bit of a Rip off at £14.99 for 6 rubber heads, two plastic oblongs and a small catapult.

I do want to get the Cantina set with the Wally, but I have a feeling I won't be so impressed with the presentation. Might just get Wally on the bay...

Just thought I would share it with the SWFUKers. :D

Saw that in tesco, couldn't belive i'd found and early bird reference in the supermarket!!

Sure it was only a tenner in there though, you've been ripped!!

J'r Junior and mum got ripped :D

Well in a roundabout way that means I got ripped too, it will come out of my pocket further down the line...

Maybe it's just me but i saw the angry birds/star wars toyline on the shelves a while back and i think it's just all a big pile of shite which i would nver buy

All these Angry Bird sets remind me a bit of that classic 80's game - Crossbows and Catapults :)

Ahh, Crossbows and Catapults, now that is a ****ing brilliant game, have got a few sets tucked away in the cupboard :)

Last played about 3-4 years ago with my bro :D can get quite competitive, but what fun :) there were some very similar modern sets that i picked up on the cheap when woolworths was about to be pulled from the high street, forget its name now.....

That was awesome, got a few sets (well Mumbo has got them) and we got the original set. It was re-released and was going dirt cheap when Woolworths closed down so Mumbo stocked up on them too...

We have played a few games recently (about 2 years ago  ) Its still good fun and trumps angry birds :D

Now he has figured out uploading pictures I will nudge him to put a few pics up in the 'other collections thread'.

The hassle of getting them out would seriously put me off from sharing, perhaps when i get the loft sorted i will be able to take a snap.....

We played at yours about 4 years ago but i think your right, we also played at mine and that would have been about 2-3 years........ around the same time i whooped you up at subbutteo :D

Nice new avatar 8)

Don't mention Subbuetteo    I think it was penalties last time we played

Yeah yeah, i seem to remember it being a 30 yard screamer :D

The pic reminds me of the drunk croc in shuffle puck cafe

I haven't played subuteo since 1996, i remember because it was in France, and it was against someone who was once ranked third in the country!!

I may as well have not bothered!! Ws impressive to watch what he was capable of though!!
