Not the sort of stuff we normally have in OT, and for once a remotely serious post from me, but I read the article below and just thought I'd post it here.
Not sure of most people's politcal persuasions or attitudes to war, but there's no doubt of the debt we owe people like this.

RIP

He has the same birthday as myself but im obviously not 113. I have alot of respect for that guy.
He is in a better place now.

Grant.

I don't do facebook but a guy at work does. Someone posted inapropriate remarks about this veteran's passing  And boy did he get flamed. We will always be in debt to old diggers like this.

A true hero, I have nothing but utmost respect for people like this.

My Grandad was (like most people of his age) in the Navy during WW2 (despite not being able to swim, silly ****er) and I cant imagine the stuff that he and the millions of others went through.

My Granda fought in Borneo and Malaysia. He would never speak about it until a few years before he died (I think he knew he didn't have long) even then he was very guarded about what he said.

God only knows what most of them went through, and they did it all at a much younger age than most of us are now.

Sixty eight million men were mobilsed for WW1................TWO are still alive!

My grandfather flew inside Lancaster bombers in WW2. He wasnt a pilot but he did other things inside the plain. he told me on his first flights he was dragged on the plane.
When he joined the RAF he was a non smoker and drinker, when he finished after the war he smoked like a trooper and enjoyed the occasional whisky. Men of honour.

RESPECT.

Grant.

We should salute a true Brit who gave everything for his country and countrymen, unlike most of the worthless putrid scum that inhabits england today...
